• I share your pain. The most Owen went through was four pairs in one year, and then that stopped in the third year of high school. I was saved by being able to sell his used shoes to other dancers in the school -- thank goodness hard shoes are unisex.   • Yes, this is the trip. A good tailor will add a rubber type strip inside the waistband. If your trousers don't come with this perhaps you can have it added by a tailor. It has been a lifesaver. • I just bought a couple of pair ar Burlington Coat Factory for my DS. Flat front and nice fabric with partial silky lining. Brand name Bertolli or something that starts with a B?   • I've seen both. Some TCs like the flat front for a more sleek/refined look. No side pockets even better (sometimes if the pants don't fit quite right the pockets stick out).     • I go to a local tailor who is quite good although more expensive than Burlington coat or other stores. I also get flat front. But for real thin boys/men I suggest you consider pleats in front as they add some needed weight. Do not go with school type trousers as you can often see the white in the pocket.
