  • Rotation at a feis -- Mom of ds, 05:39:34 11/13/07 Tue [10]
My son is a prelim dancer and in our region, he dances withthe girls. Since the boys do the opposite dance, he always seems to go first and if there's not another boy there, he dances alone. He places fairly well but I'm wondering if this is a disadvantage to him and if it ever changes when the girls change their dance. It's got to be hard to dance first and alone - every time! Have any of you guys experienced this? Any advice to make it easier for him and build his confidence? Thanks!

What is your opinion of boys shirts being copied, in some cases it is exact fabric and others it is close with same type waistcoat and same coloured tie!! Not to mention same age group! • Any advice for keeping the tie from showing? -- Thanks!, 06:06:54 11/13/07 Tue [6]
My young dancer seems to be like Houdini when it comes to ties. I have pinned them in several places and tucked them into the shirt between the buttons, but it still seems to peek out after the antics with friends while waiting in line.

I hate to cut them as I have an older dancer and they can share ties, plus they can wear them for non-dance functions, but would that be my only option? I'm still afraid he'd find a way to make it show even if cut!

  • Hardshoes--For a boy with a wide foot, what has worked best? DS has Rutherford's but doesn't like how rounded ("clownlike") they are. Anyone used Corr's, Pacellis, Fay's. Do their wides offer width for boy with wide foot. Need something tapered at the toe so no "clown" look, but some width at side of foot so he can get his foot in and not have it smashed inside. • vest update -- AZ mom, 12:34:36 11/12/07 Mon [8]
A while back I posted a request for info for a vest pattern. I found someone to sew the vest, and it was delivered today. The seamstress did a lovely job, matching up the pattern (it's a black silk jacquard type fabric) evenly on the front and centered it on the back. Total cost: about $40 for pattern plus materials and $49 for labor & a few misc items.
