  • Stuck at home for Worlds? -- Ally and Nic, 06:41:17 04/01/09 Wed [1]
We here at I Heart That! Dance are too :( Lucky for us, journalism graduate student and Irish dancer S.J. will be there writing for the Irish Times and Hornpipe.net so she's going to be sending back regular updates via the website Twitter AND posting daily on our blog!

    http://iheartthatdance.blogspot.com

S.J. has posted her bio on our blog already, and if you scroll on down the page we've added some instructions on how to sign up for Twitter (it's easy!) as well as hopefully answered some common questions about how to keep your account protected. You can also read S.J.'s original post on DDN here:

    http://www.dance.net/topic/8088880/1/Irish/Want-Worlds-updates-Follow-me-on-Twitter.html

Feel free to post comments on S.J.'s posts on our blog -- we do moderate them so they won't appear immediately. But we'd love to hear from you -- feel free to post good lucks, congratulations and to let S.J. know if you'd like to hear about something in particular! We're also happy to add YOUR photos if you email them to us, but note that we don't identify dancers unless specifically instructed to.

GOOD LUCK to all the guys competing at Worlds and safe journey to those folks travelling!

(These are in UK sizes by the way). $45 each pair, includes shipping within the U.S. They are still in very nice shape, heels and tips still fine; son just grew out of them quickly. -- Reelshoeseller, 16:36:02 03/10/09 Tue [3]

  • So let's be honest here about ID and the stages for girls versus the boys -- keep it real, 15:18:51 03/07/09 Sat [8]
Given the expensive nature of Irish dancing and the relative number of girls versus boy competitors who is surprised that the girls get and deserve a larger venue?

If someone is claiming that the stage square footage (floor space) given to the boys is inadequate for a high level dancer then that's one thing. I don't hear anyone saying that.

I am just not understanding this issue ... it does not seem to be an issue.

  • This may seem like a weird question, but DS just informed me he doesn't want to wear briefs under dancing trousers, instead wants to wear Body Armor, these spandex type things like briefs. I apologize for getting so personal here, but I've never heard of wearing these under trousers. Son is only 11; Sorry to start odd chat here, but what do most boys/young men wear under their trousers? -- not a perv, just a mom, 20:43:13 12/21/08 Sun [23]

I don't normally bother with dance compilation videos but this one was great fun, mainly because (in my opinion) the Irish steps and moves are simply WAY AHEAD of the salsa, jiving etc. There is something classy Irish Dancing that makes it the best.
