Subject: Boys Reel Shoes... Hi, I have a 14 year old who seems to go through reel shoes about every 4 or 5 months. He has grown into the largest size of Capezios (13.5 American) and his current pair have gone through at the base of the big toe. Can any dancers out there recommend other brands which may hold up longer or am I being too optimistic about the longevity of boys reel shoes??

[> I wouldn't hold your breath on getting them to last longer - my ds goes through a pair every 3-4 months. I suppose the Rutherford flexi soft shoes (they use the hard shoe form instead of the capezio jazz shoe) may be sturdier leather, but won't be as form fitting either..... -- At least they are not $2000 dresses!, 20:12:56 10/26/08 Sun [1]

[> My son's big toe goes through hi shoes, too. I did look into the Coors and have mulled em over because their bottom front pad goes all the way up to the toe. But its the price tag that holds me back. Thay are $50.00 more than the others. -- Bill, 08:10:10 10/28/08 Tue [1]

I have a brand new size 1 Coors (equates to about a 2.5 to 3 US size) that I can't get my DS to break in before Oireachtas and he's quickly getting to the point of outgrowing them. I'd be willing to sell them at a reduced price just so they don't go to waste. They are very substantial with nice padding and I think the strap would help with heel slippage. Email me if interested.

They don't say but Besty had told me that the last pair I bought was an 11 & now he's in a 12.5...

They're in great condition...
