[> Macy's has Calvin Klein flat front for $40. They were on sale last weekend for $25. Also, I go to Burlington Coat Factory. -- mom, 08:48:48 03/02/09 Mon [1]

[> Men's pants worn over the years... -- Senior Irish Dancer, 09:41:02 04/11/09 Sat [1]

As a gent dancing in the Senior Men, I have tried a variety of pants recommended by teachers and fellow dances throughout the years. Here is some advice for fellow gents:

Calvin Klein used to sell a flat front dress pant through Macy's made of a polyester/spandex blend (currently unavailable even after calling CK and speaking to a representative). It was a great pair of pants to dance in and never bunched or restricted movement.

I also experimented with a men's flat front wool dress pant. You can find these at most department stores. I chose a pair made by Alfani which were light and non-restrictive. Wool is great to use because it's a breathable fabric that doesn't soak up perspiration while dancing.

Currently I use a pair of golf pants made by Nike. I considered buying men's ballet or Jazz pants but they weren't formal enough for Irish dance purposes. The golf pants I use are part of a Tiger Woods clothing line made and marketed by Nike online. They are a polyester/spandex blend similar to the CK pants. They are as light as the wool pants and have flexibility to reduce folds and bunching. These pants also fall back into place nicely after performing high front click and other movements. I highly recommend them to any male Irish dancer.

The only downside to buying dress pants is the cost but the men's costume is certainly not as expensive as the ladies championship costumes. I hope this information helps and best of luck to all in your upcoming competitions.
