Author: An ok look for higher levels?
Subject: So, do you think that plain old black shirt, black trousers will mark a dancer as 'not so experienced'? My son is not too keen on anything but black on black...no tie, no vest.

[> I think you need a dash of something, either on the vest or in the tie. Even all black with a crisp white tie sells better than all black alone. -- IMHO, 21:11:14 10/15/08 Wed [1]

[> [> I dont think it would make him look inexperienced, but at the majors, there is often a dark backdrop on the stage. Black, black, and more black. They get lost up there, I think a little color makes them stand out more. Of course, if he feels great in black, maybe he will dance better.. -- Irishmama, 04:12:31 10/16/08 Thu [1]

[> I found some great black fabric with some white on it for a shirt. Try looking for something with a little color. As said previously, all black is hard to see. If you can put at least a colored tie on. -- 7kids4us, 05:48:18 10/16/08 Thu [1]

[> i think all back makes the boys look long and lean. it's a manly look - LOL. But, i do think he'll need a tie. Can you find one that is black and white? I'd check Goodwill, too. They have lots of ties for a couple dollars. -- cheap mom!, 09:54:59 10/16/08 Thu [1]

[> Goodwill, Salvation Army, thrift stores -- I LOVE THEM ! sometimes they are the best place to find ties and shirts -- worthy of irish dancing, 13:33:36 10/16/08 Thu [1]

[> It is the perfect look IMHO ... go for it! -- none of the girly boy stuff for me!, 08:18:59 10/17/08 Fri [1]

No tie required!

[> [> I like black fine, but I dont think any of the boys pics I looked at looked at all "girly", just stylish. And very handsome too! They are on stage, costumes are within the normal limits there-they wouldnt wear them to school, but..would a girl wear her dress there? -- Like the different looks, 16:53:32 10/17/08 Fri [1]

[> A nice tie is really needed to complete the look - it just makes them look finished, tidy and professional. Better to have some color on the tie and not all black straight through just for the sake of some contrast. A guy wouldn't skip a tie for an interview or any other "first impression" type meeting -- this is all about 1st impressions!, 05:40:14 10/18/08 Sat [1]
