Subject: Boys straight legs

Hello
My son finds it so difficult to do his jumps and get his legs straight - they sort of ways bend at his knee and droop downwards. They look terrible and I'd love him to be able to do those fantastic leaps with pointed legs that I see other boys his age doing. He does try very hard and practises them - but alas, no joy.
Anybody any tips?
He has lots other things he needs to perfect - but we'll take them one at a time.
THanks for your time in reading this.

[> I think that there are two things he has to look at. One, core strength is so important to be able to hold leaps. The most strength comes from the core of the body, not the legs. Secondly, if his hamstrings are very tight, it is harder to straighten the leg. This has always been true for my ds. We are working on these things with various excercises, some of his friends have gone to a sports trainer for help initially. Pilates is supposed to be really helpful, but unfortunately my ds really didnt care for it. -- Irishmama, 05:52:13 09/17/08 Wed [1]
