Subject: We have had a different experience. In our region, the boys dance against the girls....
In reply to: .. The talent is simply amazing on both chromosomes. Would it be easier (while still being honest) to just qualify it that way?" on 23:45:57 10/20/08 Mon

and I have never seen my boys get any 'boy points'. They struggle their way up like the girls. (But, if there are any known judges out there who give them, pleae let me know. My son has been in Novice Reel for two YEARS and could use a first - LOL!). But, when you go to Oirechtas and the top 10 dancers go to Nationals, and, there are only 8 boys....yeah, it's easier to qualify.

I think it is a different experience for the boys than the girls. And, that's OK! They all work hard.

And, I have sort of ashamed to say it, but, I am sort of a dance mom snob when it comes to other sports my boys have played. I see parents cheering wildly while their son gets 4 balls in the dirt and take a walk in baseball. I just sort of shake my head compared to what I see kids do every week at dance...leaping across the room, kicking to their head, etc.
