I think you are perfectly ok, honey. I am also a mom (all boys) and I know that you can separate the spankings that you participate in as an adult with the ones needed for kids. I didn't really spank the boys except when little mainly because they never needed it but my husband would have not hesitated if it was needed. However, I am positive that the spankings that he gives me are not the same ones he would give the boys.
Wanting to straightened someone out, even a young adult non-relative does not necessarily make you crazy just wired a little different than some. It's ok!
If taking a break helps then by all means do what's best for you but I for one refuse to believe there is anything wrong with you and as I've said in the past you sound like a great mom. The 2 situations don't need to be blurred into one. They can be separate
