Two important questions...if you were going to compete in a new pageant that seems likely to become high profile and is exclusively for the "older" set...

What would you suggest as the minimum age? This would be a single title pageant; should it start at 40? 45? Something else? With the right criteria could someone near (or over) 60 compete fairly with someone 42?

What time of year would be best? Venue would likely be in the DFW area, so it's hot in the summer, and there are so many pageants in the summer. Is that still best or would Spring or Fall be better?

More questions to follow as the possibility for doing this in 2013 firms up.

I want to buy a new gown for my next pageant.
I am 41-years-old, but I really feel my best color is bubble-gum pink. (I have brown hair, hazel eyes, and pale skin, even with a spray tan.)

Every photo I have of myself in this color looks better than any other color I wear. But I'm worried judges will see my age and score me down for being age inapropriate.

Fall pageant. Mrs Pageant- Please let's have 45-69 or 70.A Mrs pageant should celebrate longevity in a marriage. So what if you are 21 and married 6 months.. That does not truly represent MRS. And everyone is cute at 18, 23... No bathing suits.Fitness is fine. We can be fit, but at that age, lets have some class.
Please educate the judges- Real women, yet beautiful, fit women. Age should not matter.Hopefully, we will all be there one day. Once accepted into a pageant, age should be left off the judges info.Let them judge us for who they really think we are and what we represent.
Whomever has a MRS pageant where a more mature woman wins,it will open the floodgates for entries.More entries, more monies= more exposure, success, publicity, viability for the pageant system.Does not take a Harvard school of business degree to figure that out. Good luck ladies and directors. Thanks.

I have to admit it - There were some weird moments, like at crowning when the cameras were 100% focused on the girl who would eventually win, with only a second of time devoted to the runner up. I noticed that right away and thought it was strange, even before the rumors started coming out afterwards.
Crazy, I know, but I can't get this out of my head!

I just wanted to get your thoughts on how black gowns are viewed by potential judges in "Mrs." pageants.
I always hear "Color makes you stand out," but at the same time, it seems like black gowns are rare enough that it would make you stand out, anyway.
Plus, to me they are more figure flattering and easier to look chic and classy in.
Does anyone have any helpful opinions?

Please pray for all of the victims and their families as we try to make sense of this tragedy. It has been confirmed that the youngest victim was only 3 months old but they all need our thoughts and prayers over the coming weeks.

It isn't that there is anything seriously wrong with this pageant, but it is NOT for me! I'm sure the feeling is mututal from my director.
I have already paid the entry fee (close to $1000), and have been told it is non-refundable if I back out.
I'm so unhappy.

From the board someone wrote:
"So to answer the OP's question, 30 something is the best age to win. If an older lady is ever going to pull it off, she will have to look like a 30 something (not with a bunch of plastic surgery either). There are ladies out there who could do it, it just hasn't been done yet."

Am I the only one who finds this a bit ludicrous? The expectation of "looking 30 something" as a 50 something tells me there is something broken with the system. That is akin to saying a "30 something" needs to look like a 10 year old. Try as you may, that is not going to happen.

How do older women break this cycle of insane expectations?
