Not to digress, BILLY ARMSTRONG was born January 14, 1891 in Bristol, England as William George Young and adopted Armstrong as his stage name. Like Paddy McQuire, Billy got his start at Essanay in the Chaplin comedies. On Oct 5, 1920 he married Marion Parker in Venice, CA. It was Billy's first marriage and Marion's second. She was the aunt of child star Don Marion Davis, aka Little John Henry, of Sennett comedies, 1919-1922. Billy's wife died at age 31 on Nov 1, 1920. Armstrong supposedly remarried shortly thereafter, and he himself died Saturday night, March 1st, 1924 in Los Angeles after just spending four months in Arizona recovering from an illness. So sad how many of these comedians died so tragically. Now back to our regularly scheduled forum... :-)
