Pretty sure the man is Roy Brooks.

I think the little girl is Ivadell Carter. Wonder if Matthew Lydick or Drina Mohacsi would know for sure...

Much as I'd hate to rock the boat with regards to the Jack O'Brien ID, but it actually looked more like Noah (in a dual role) to me when I first saw it, and after close observation and comparison to other screenshots, his overall build and even the shape of his left ear would still suggest Noah to me. The only issue I see would be the height, but he and Stan aren't really on a level plane in that scene anyway.

LordHeath's favorite movie database website gets it "Wrong Again".The biographical data they give for actor EDWARD MORGAN is for ABC News Network TV broadcaster "EDWARD P. MORGAN"...https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_P._Morgan

The movie database has the correct person as "ANTHONY MARSH".

ANM's Eddie Morgan:

born: 13 June 1912 Port of Spain, Trinidad, British West Indies .

died: 15 September1974 Los Angeles, California,United States of America .

Height: 5'11" Real name: Anthony Edward Krauth

The Dad was of German extraction and the Mom, French. In Trinidad, they made chocolate from cocoa beans for a German candy company. He relocated the family to the US in 1920 and went to work for an American candy company in Boston which had been confiscated from Germany in WWI. He died in 1929 and the widow moved the family to Los Angeles. Eddie's oldest sister had started acting in films in New York. By the 1930 Census in LA, all 4 siblings were acting in motion pictures. Older sister Harriet became actress "Jean Fenwick". Anthony became actor "Eddie Morgan".Brother George kept his name and became a "movie studio writer". Younger sister Violet became "famous" actress"Marian Marsh". In 1934, "Eddie Morgan" changed his stage name to "Anthony Marsh" to match his sister's.

The 1940 Census for LA shows all 4 siblings as college graduates and earning in excess of $1,000 per year. Oddly, on "Eddie's" October 1940 "Young Mens' Draft Card" he is living in LA but employed by the "Black Magic Mine Co." which was an iron & other minerals mining operation in the San Bernardino Mountains. His height is given as 5'11", but about half the time, other records give his height as 6'0".
In October of 1945 in LA he married May Hough (1920-1989) a divorce' who worked as a "blueprint operator": No children.

I think the one you have ID'd as him now may actually be Charles Bimbo, but I need to try and find other photos of him to be sure. I do know he was a very small guy (5'1" if I correctly remember his WWII draft card).

TCM offered us another opportunity to take a look at Just a Good Guy (1924), originally aired following its restoration back in 2014. The opening credits have been redone so that Olive Borden, who only has one scene in the pawn shop is "credited" above leading lady Katherine Grant; meantime Fay Wray, who has only a bit getting into a taxi and is virtually unrecognizable now gets screen credit after Kewpie Morgan above Noah Young. Qu’est-ce que c’est "restoration"? Meantime
uncredited (and apparently uncrecognized by the restoration committee) Babe London has a nice bit with Stone as an overdressed street flirt.
Subject: Actor Joe Devlin

I've done extensive research on character actor Joe Devlin (1894-1973), who appeared in four pictures at the Roach studio, all shot between March and July 1942. Devlin is my great-grandfather.

He played Mussolini in the streamliners The Devil With Hitler and Nazty Nuisance, and perhaps because he happened to be on the lot had two bits in Taxi, Mister and Fall In.

I'm happy to provide content for his bio (https://www.lordheath.com/Joe_Devlin.html) and details, facts, and stories I've unearthed about his time there.

A couple quick corrections:

His bio incorrectly lists his birth name as Joseph Mathews; his real name was in fact Christopher Joseph Devlin. (The Mathews surname was a fictitious name he used briefly during WW1, perhaps dodging the draft board or his wife after he left her to travel on a vaudeville circuit. He had two sons out of wedlock at this time, assigning them both the fictitious Mathews surname, and this branch (of which I'm a member) grew up incorrectly thinking "Devlin" was his stage name). One day I'll persuade IMDB to correct this falsehood as many sites rely on that bio as gospel truth and thus repeat his wrong name across the web. One of my misinformed relatives supplied IMDB with the wrong name and it's nearly impossible to correct falsehoods on their site, sadly.

One other correction: The page on The Devil with Hitler incorrectly lists the director as Gordon Gouglas - it was Gordon Douglas.

I've written extensively on this film and its sequel, Nazty Nuisance, and I'm happy to provide copy for the review and trivia.

Do you think the cop in the 2nd row is Ed Porter?

Also, in the middle lobby card, that's always looked to me like Harry Bowen with the tilted light-colored derby hat towards the far left of the crowd. And looking at it again, could that be Clara Guiol's face peeking out at the absolute far left under the other gentleman's face?

Shoe customer is William Gillespie. And I think you're correct on him also being pedestrian 4.

Sales clerk is Estelle Harrison.

Pedestrian 2 looks like Belle Mitchell.

Customer 6 and Pedestrian 3 both look like Marie again.

The masher stooges are Wallace Howe and Jimmy Parrott.

I think the shocked customer is Fred Jefferson.

The boy kid is Jerome LaPlanch (or LaPlanche, as you have him on the site).

I think the lazy clerk is William Peterson.

Not 100% sure, but I think "Dorothy Burns" may actually be Dorothy Vernon.

You seem to have the brothers Parrott on the brain, because you spell "parrot" with an extra "t" at a couple points in your synopsis!

You also misspelled "home" without the "e" in the second sentence of the last paragraph.

I actually don't think that's Charlie as the little moving man, although there is a resemblance. I'm racking my brains trying to figure out who it is, though, because he looks VERY familiar but I'm coming up blank. Actually, the more I look at it, the more it's actively driving me nuts, because I'm trying to figure out where I've seen him before! Gaaah!!!

Beth Darlington's header shot is broken, I assume due to a file name change.

William Strohbach's Roach count should be 11, not 10.

In SHOULD HUSBANDS PAY? that's Anita Garvin's character at the far right of the unIDs, per this still.

Anna May Wong is missing a Roach credit - THE HONORABLE MR. BUGGS (1927).

Vernon Dent is missing HIS ROYAL SLYNESS (per HLE).

Was looking at the page for SAY IT WITH BABIES, and at the bottom of the cast list, I noticed we have another credit for Gus Schaffrath.

The first two links (TAKE NEXT CAR and 365 DAYS) on Jack Ackroyd's page are not working.

OFF THE TROLLEY - Dorothea Wolbert's character name is misspelled as "Landlandy."

On Jack Gavin's page, his character in FROZEN HEARTS is misspelled "Wan with weapons," rather than "Man..."

THE MERRY WIDOWER - Typo in the second part of the synopsis: "Along the journey [J]ulius appears..."

SHOULD SECOND HUSBANDS COME FIRST? - synopsis: on the first shot scrollover, the title accidentally ends in "Home?" instead of "First?" Edgar Sherrod is still identified as "?" in the second shot scrollover.

THE MAN HATERS - typo in trivia: "Reiussed."

Ferdinand Munier's bio misspells the word "Rotund" ("Rotound").

Height for Elyse Knox: 5'3"
https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/187619041/ (Minneapolis Star, 20 Dec 1942)

Lillian Porter's place of death is misspelled ("Bernadino" should be "Bernardino").

On George Kotsonaros' page, his last name is misspelled in the scrollover for his screenshot in WE FAW DOWN (in the filmography, not the header shot).

Clyde Cook's SCARED STIFF isn't on the site yet, but here's the full(ish) cast:

Clyde Cook (already listed)
Eileen Percy (not yet on site)
Stuart Holmes (+1; only he and Cook listed on IMDb)
Shirley Palmer (+1)
James T. Mack (+1)

https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/678274013/ (Los Angeles Evening Post-Record, 21 Nov 1925)
https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/380761731/ (Los Angeles Times, 29 Nov 1925)

Both articles also describe what appears to be the cast for DIZZY DADDIES (Finlayson, Astor, O'Neil, Mineau, June, Brooke, O'Donnell, dir. Wallace, plus Nov 1925 matches film's production); these tidbits add Ivor McFadden and Jerry Mandy to the cast.

Incidentally, I feel pretty sure that Shirley Palmer is the first unidentified cavewoman in FLYING ELEPHANTS. In addition to Steve's find, I found a couple of newspaper articles that list her in the cast.

Had these sitting for a while and am finally getting them out of the way. Feel free to get to them when you can...

Stan's page - HABEAS CORPUS links to TWO TARS.

Stan's TIEMBLA Y TITUBEA screenshot is missing from the film's page.

Dixie Gray should be Dixie Gay.

Dannie MacGrant should be Dannie Mac Grant ("Mac" being a middle name instead of part of the surname).

Ruby Blaine is missing IS EVERYBODY HAPPY?

Thelma Todd's page is missing existing screenshots for SKY BOY, SEALSKINS, SNEAK EASILY, DONE IN OIL, and THE MISSES STOOGE.

Ena Gregory's page is missing the existing screenshot for RIDERS OF THE KITCHEN RANGE.

Charles Dorety's page is missing existing screenshots for LA SENORITA DE CHICAGO, PARDON US, and RHAPSODY IN BREW.

Pete Gordon's page: HUNS & HYPHENS links to HABEAS CORPUS.

Typo in Mae Laurel's bio: "temp[e]ramental."

Curtis McHenry's name in the A-Z actors has no link.

FALLEN ARCHES has an extra "the" in the first paragraph of its synopsis: "...the manager the absconded..."

SEALSKINS' tab title has an extra "s" at the end.

APRIL FOOL unIDs: is that Beth Darlington at the left?

THE BOUNCER unIDs: could "Dance-hall Dan" be Bob Kortman?

DON'T FORGET unIDs: looks like Jack Ackroyd at far left, and Chris Lynton at far right.

SHOULD MEN WALK HOME unIDs: to me, that is unmistakably your Dorothy in the kissing couple.

BRING 'EM BACK A WIFE unIDs: looks like Edgar Sherrod as the priest, and maybe Robert McKenzie as the surgeon.

COLLARS AND CUFFS mentions "Owen Jones" in the synopsis - should be Owen Evans.

The trivia section for LET'S DO THINGS repeats a fact twice ("As the doctor is throwing Thelma around in the bed . . . ")

Two more credits for Joe Ploski: THERE GOES MY HEART ("Walter") and NAZTY NUISANCE ("Seaman Pollack").

This article confirms Blanche Mehaffey in HE FORGOT TO REMEMBER, and adds William Gillespie, who I can now safely confirm is the middle unID.

Thanks to this article, I can now 100% confirm that's Mark Jones as the magician in A SAILOR MADE MAN.

The UN ID'd "Boy" looks like JACKIE MORGAN.

JACKIE was 5 years old when "Blow 'Em Up" was filmed 1921 Sep26-Oct03. The age looks OK.

He was with SNUB later in "Courtship of Miles Sandwich" filmed 1923 Jan20-Feb07.

He was in 2 LLOYD films made 1920 Dec20 - 1921 Mar26.

Theodore Lorch is missing listing and existing screenshot for ITALIAN LOVE.

Kernan Cripps is also "Mr. Fleece" in RATTLING ROMEO. (I assume I**b used to list Brian O'Hara, but now they list Cripps.)

On Eva McKenzie's page, you have the wrong character name for THE WRONG MISS WRIGHT. Should also be noted she's Billy Gilbert's mother-in-law.

The link for OFF THE TROLLEY is not working (should be underscores, instead of spaces).

I dispute the credits for DRINK HEARTY (instead, it looks like the same, even shorter actor who appears in THE FLOOR BELOW [alongside Sammy] and SLIPPERY SLICKERS) and CATCH-AS-CATCH-CAN (ears are too long, shape of head seems more oblong and forehead seems more prominent, and I don't think he was that bald).

(On the subject of CATCH-AS-CATCH-CAN, that's not Gordon Douglas as the desk clerk; it's another actor, whose name I don't know, but who I've seen in a handful of '30s Roach shorts.)

That said, so you don't have to change his credits total, I do have two "replacement" credits: he is missing THE GOOFY AGE (already has screenshot on film's page), and I also spotted him in ANY OLD PORT! (the L&H one) as a boxing spectator (can be seen in front row in various shots during Stan and Walter Long's match).

On the subject of ANY OLD PORT!, Walter Long has two seconds. One is Dick Gilbert, as already noted; the other second, not noted, is Pete Gordon.

On the subject of ID disputes and Pete:
- I don't think that's him on the bike in HONKY DONKEY.
- That's Pete you have identified as Michael Mark in SWISS MISS.
- AND on the subject of SWISS MISS: Ethel Gilstrom = Ethel Marie Burton.

http://www.lordheath.com/Harry_Lowe_Jr.html
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0yD41DdDeA    abt 9:07 "Washee-Ironee"

born: 1929 January 19...........New York City, New York...........United States of America.
died: 1992 December 16..........Riverside, California..........United States of America..........(age 63).
Real name: Harry Shaw Lowe Jr.
His parents were Harry Shaw Lowe Sr. (1902-1963), born in San Francisco and Lillian Lowe, no relation (1909- after 2003) who was born in Fort Worth, Texas. Harry Sr. was a movie bit actor in Los Angeles and Lillian, known as Kee Kee, was a talented dancer. They successfully danced as a team in vaudeville (various names). They married in Detroit in April of 1927.  In 1928, they left Fanchon and Marco in CA for NYC with a new Chinese dance company which became very successful in vaudeville with names such as Chinese Whoopee and Mr. Wu and His Chinese Collegians. The troupe even played in Europe.
In 1933, while in Los Angeles. 4 year-old "Harry Shar Low Jr. " (sic) interviewed and impressed the man who handled the casting of Chinese actors and extras for all the major film studios. He was hired on the spot and given small roles and a contract. He "stole" the  highly successful film for MGM was "Sequoia" in 1934 (working title "Malibu"). It was said that with his winning personality he was loved by all the actors who worked with him.
By 1935, the parents were back performing as a team on the vaudeville circuit. In the 1940 Census, the family was living in NYC again. In 1947, Harry Jr. was working for Chase Manhattan Bank as a clerk when he registered for the "Young Men's Draft" just after WWII. At some point, the family broke apart. In 1950, Harry Sr. married a Caucasian woman and they had a son. He continued acting in stage plays and was always in demand when Asian parts were called for. He did television roles and the Broadway production of "Flower Drum Song". It seems that Harry Jr. and his Mom went into the restaurant business. The Mom's sister, Betty, who had also been a dancer on stage, owned an upscale Chinese restaurant in Manhattan.
In San Francisco in 1959, Harry Jr. married Julia Lum and in 1960, they had a son, Kalen. When he died in 1992, Harry had been the food and beverage manager of the Spa Hotel in Palm Springs, CA for 30 years.

Author's notes:
If you look at the Harry Lowe Jr. in "Washee-Ironee" (rel. 29 Sep. 1934), he looks too old to have been born on 12 March of 1931 as currently stated by all sources. This Harry Lowe Jr. left for China on 08 June 1932 with his family. The Dad was planning to set up a paint factory and live in China permanently. Probably due to the Japanese invasion and the turmoil, the family (without the father who returned later) left Hong Kong, China on 16 June 1941 to return to the USA. They came close to the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941!

http://www.lordheath.com/menu1_1354.html

height: 5'4".cause of death: bladder cancer.

Her Scottish parents were Alexander Mann (1835-1890) and Margaret Gray (1837-1906). The Dad was a successful shoemaker with 4 employees and a servant girl in the house. They eventually had about 10 children, Margaret being the 4th born. Her older brother, Alexander (1863-1933), emigrated to South Africa in 1882. An Ancestry researcher says she married fellow Scotsman, George Wynes (1864-????) on June 01, 1888 and they emigrated to Cape Town, South Africa (without sources or further information). In a newspaper interview, Margaret said she was married at age 20 and moved to South Africa where her husband died in an accident and she struggled there for another 10 years until she met and married James F. Smythe (1867-1951). This is credible because her age 20 would be c.1888. and the 1900 Census gives her marriage year (to Smythe) as c.1897. It also says that she bore 3 children, none still alive in 1900. In one interview, she said she bore 2 children and 3 children in another, all who died. Husband James was born and reared on St. Helena Island, the exile and death place of Napoleon, not far off the coast from Cape Town.

In July 1899, they emigrated to the US and settled in Spokane, WA by 1900 and remained there until about 1914. James was a bookkeeper and in 1903 was named a trustee of the newly formed Spokane Gas Company. Margaret worked as a seamstress. They became a  middle-class, socially active couple involved in community affairs and charities.
In 1909, they operated the newly built Waverly Hotel with a tea room run by Margaret. Because of mining operations, Spokane was growing at a phenomenal rate. Most of the guests were permanent residents. In 1911, James was questioned and tried by the police court and fined $10 for not keeping a guest registry. A young man, un-registered, sneaked  an under-age girl into his hotel room for the night and her parents preferred charges. The police wanted the hotel register for evidence. James claimed he didn't have one nor need one, as most of his guests were permanent. The law required that all hotels maintain a daily register.

Late in 1912, Margaret was elected president of Spokane's Catholic Charities and worked extensively with "homeless girls". Also, James's application for US Citizenship was rejected on a technicality. They moved to Vancouver, B C Canada for a while, probably to "re-do" his citizenship process and in July 1913  relocated to San Diego, CA and took up permanent residence. James got a job as an accountant for a trucking company but by 1915 became too ill (don't know the cause) to work and Margaret became his caretaker and sole support. By the time of his award of US Citizenship in August of 1920, he was working in LA as an accountant for the Jones Transfer Co..

San Diego was the site for the 2 year 1915 Panama California Exposition from Jan 1, 1915 thru Jan 1, 1917 which garnered almost 4 million visitors. The State of Washington was looking for people from Washington State (paid employment) to portray historical figures in the state dioramas. Among these, they were seeking a woman to portray Martha Washington. A neighbor encouraged Margaret to apply as she looked like Martha. She applied and won the part. After her Expo "gig" was finished, friends suggested Margaret try her luck in Hollywood. This she did and made the rounds of the studios getting hired by Universal for the usual bit parts: crowd scenes, extra parts, etc.. Supposedly, Margaret was a close friend to Jessie Shirley (1866-1918) who ran a successful acting company that was based in Spokane. One source says Margaret performed with them and that Allen Holubar was their leading man in 1908 (unconfirmed). If true, they must have known each other.  It was Universal director, Holubar, who cast her as the tragic Canadian mother of 5 boys who go off to war in WWI, in his highly successful, star studded feature "Heart of Humanity" . She was already in the "pool" of extra players but after interviewing many experienced actresses, Holubar said he picked her because she "looked the Mother type". Margaret received rave reviews for her touching performance. In a 1928 interview she said that she had so much sadness in her early life that it wasn't difficult to play the part of a loving Mother who loses four of her five loving sons to war.(Further explanation in the "Author's Notes.) Holubar cast her in several other successful films in her "mother role" until he died young in 1922 and Margaret's film roles as a feature player pretty much "dried up" but she kept getting small parts and extra work.

Then, in 1928 she "hit the jackpot" big time! Director John Ford at Fox cast her in the lead role in his film "Four Sons". This time, she is the Bavarian Mother of four loving, light-hearted boys. They all go off to war: three on the German side and one, who had emigrated to America years earlier, is fighting on the American side. The three "German" sons die and the "American" son lives to bring his Mom to America and "live happily ever after". Margaret goes on tour with the cast to promote the film, which becomes a huge success and again, Margaret gets rave reviews and a 2 year contract with Fox for $10,000 per year!  (Actually, they "stiffed" her. After a few films, she paid a visit to her sister in Scotland, where the town welcomed  her like a queen. When she returned to the US, Fox didn't pick up her option. Her 2-year contract was 6 months of options for 2 years: Fox used it as publicity and hype from Margaret's  original "Cinderella" success story).
She is frugal with her money and success and buys a nice little house with a rental that she and James can live in comfortably for the rest of their lives.
Margaret's roles grew smaller and smaller. She succumbed to bladder cancer in 1941 and strangely, James, who had been so ill years earlier, outlived her by 10 years and died of a stroke at age 83.

Author's notes on Margaret's early tribulations:

1871 Scotland Census, Margaret is age 2 and living with her Mom's brother. I don't know why, as her Dad was a shoemaker with 4 employees and a .....family servant.
.....In an interview, she said that she had to quit school at age 10 to take care of all the younger brothers and sisters.

#2 - Ernie Morrison Sr.

#3 - Pretty sure that's Bob O'Conor (though you can't really tell from the screenshot in the unIDs, but watching the footage in action, it looks like him to me).

#9 - Wallace Howe.

#10 might be the same guy as Snub's Great-Great-Grand Daddy in THE FLOOR BELOW and the short drinker in DRINK HEARTY (who I don't think is Sammy Brooks).

If you keep your eye trained at far left of the screen looking at the crowd that gathers at 3:31, you can see Hazel Powell (wearing what appears to be some sort of harem girl costume) peeking out from behind Wallace Howe at 3:32 and 3:35. She can be seen in the background for the rest of the crowd scene (for instance, at 3:42, 3rd from left when Snub brings Howe up, becoming 2nd from left at 3:46 when the other woman moves forward).

Lastly, I'm not sure that's Helen Gilmore. There is a resemblance, but she seems too short. Helen would've been towering over Snub.

"Mystery Man" is listed twice (225 & 229) in your Top 261 (Top 260?).

Looks to me like he's the messenger in THE HEAD GUY, the middle unID in THE BIG KICK, and the unID at the left in LADRONES.

Rival cabbie is C.L. Sherwood.

Positive that "man hoisting piano" is Ham Kinsey (I remember immediately ID'ing him and O'Brien when watching that scene a long time ago).

Pedestrian 1 looks like Grace Wood.

Photographer looks to me like it might be Ed Brandenburg, but I'm not 100% sure.

http://www.lordheath.com/Donald_Hughes.html

born: 1912 November 23.Manhattan, New York City, New York.United States of America.

died: 1974 February 18.Lake Side, Lake County, CA.United States of America.(age 62).
Real name: Donald Thomas Hughes.

Donald Thomas Hughes (sometimes Thomas Donald) was born to Thomas J. Hughes and Elizabeth Loretta Cash in Manhattan, NYC.This is confirmed at Vitalsearch.com and his 1942 WWII Draft Card. The Dad was a professional golfer and golf instructor. Sometime between 1920 and 1922, the entire family moved to Los Angeles, CA. The family consists of Thomas J. (the Father), Loretta E. (the Mother), Donald T. (the Son) and Dorothy (the Daughter). In NYC in 1920, the Mom's sister, Dorothy Mantell was living with them. She was a stage and vaudeville actress but remained in NYC and years later married an entertainment impresario with a P.T. Barnum personality (my opinion).

Apparently, the parents separated by 1923 as they are at separate residences according to the LA City Directory.
In November 1922, a theater in San Pedro put on a fashion show featuring "celebrities". The newspaper blurb said, "Dorothy and Donald Hughes, famous film kiddies, will model all children's wear......."

The 1924 LA City Directory has:

Loretta E. Hughes..........photo player......h. 420 W. 2nd St.
Donald T. Hughes..........photo player.......r. 420 W. 2nd St.
Dorothy   Hughes...........photo player......r. 420 W. 2nd St.

The 1925 LA City Directory has:
Mrs. Loretta Hughes.....photoplayer.......h.1512 Maltman Ave.
Donald Hughes............photoplayer........r. 1512 Maltman Ave.
Dorothy Hughes..........photoplayer.........r. 1512 Maltman Ave.

By 1930, in LA, Donald is living with his Mom and sister;  going to school and working as a gas station attendant. Oddly, the sister Dorothy, has records saying she was born in NYC, Denver and San Francisco. Unlike Donald, Vitalsearch.com does not show her in the NYC birth records. The Dad is in the census, NYC as a  "married lodger" and working as a professional golfer.

In 1933, Donald was jailed for 6 months for writing and forging bad checks. This was a habit he couldn't break and was in and out of prison as a convicted felon and parole violator through at least 1959. He went to San Quentin Prison in 1939 and was released in 1941. He married Virginia Woodall in Hollywood (July 1943). She was a "Texas girl" who went to Hollywood to study acting and break into movies. They had a daughter in Houston, TX in 1944. There are indications that he was previously married to "Bernice Unknown" and divorced in CA in 1940 even though his 1943 marriage certificate says that was "his 1st marriage" and a "radio technician". In May of 1948 he was sent to Huntsville TX Prison for (you guessed it) writing bad checks: a 4 year sentence. This prison record says that his profession was "producer-public relations-radio announcer-writer". This fits with Nancy Lane's bio of Donald at Virginia's Findagrave site. She says:

"On July 31, 1943, in St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Hollywood, she married Thomas Donald Hughes, long associated with the screen and stage and at that time a sound man for the Columbia Broadcasting Stations. "

After an early release from Huntsville Prison in 1951, Donald migrated to Petaluma, CA. There, in 1959, he was sent to jail for (you guessed it) passing bad checks.

AUTHOR'S NOTES:There were several candidates for ANM's Donald Hughes who I eliminated. One fan magazine "answer man" column told readers that he was the son of leading actor, Lloyd Hughes. Yes, Lloyd had a son named Donald Hughes except he was born in 1926.

There was an actor and later set designer, Frank Elmo Hughes and his actress wife who had a son, Ralph Lawrence Hughes, born Jan. 1913. The parents divorced in 1920 and the Mom remarried in 1921 a man named "Edwards" who adopted Ralph and he became Ralph Lawrence Edwards. In 1922 they moved to Seattle, WA for a few years and were back in CA by the 1930 Census. This is the 5% "un-confidence" as I can't conclusively show that this "kid" was not in LA during the time Donald Hughes was making films, but he would have had to take the name "Donald" for acting purposes and I don't find any references to him or his Step-dad related to any part of the entertainment industry. (Although at age 17, Ralph worked as an usher at a theater while going to school, if that counts?)

In 1931, there was a Donald Hughes acting "kid" parts on radio in LA.  He was born about 1920 and I couldn't find any reference to him in movies.

http://www.lordheath.com/Kathleen_OConnor.html

Died: North Hollywood, Los Angeles Co., CA.
cerebral hemorrhage due to arteriosclerosis.

The 1900 Census says she was born in 1893. She doesn't seem to have an "official" birth record or newspaper birth announcement. The 1894 birth year is on her death certificate. Her Dad was a Dayton, OH city policeman. By 1900, the Mom already had 6 children and possibly had difficulty remembering all of their birth dates. By 1910, there were 10 living children in the family.

At Findagrave.com, biographers James Lacy and Bobb Edwards have different accounts of Lynn Reynolds' suicide.

James Lacy:"....marriage ended in tragedy when her husband fatally shot himself February 24, 1927, after a quarrel in their home at 8281 Fountain Avenue in Hollywood. He had returned from shooting the film "Back to God's Country" in Bishop, CA after being snowbound with the cast and crew for several days. During a welcome home party, he and Kathleen got into an argument after she reportedly teased him about being too friendly with "God's Country" co-star Renee Adoree. Accusations of infidelity came from both sides, ensuing in a fight climaxing with her husband shooting himself in the head. He died the next day..."

Bobb Edwards:".....At the beginning of February 1927 Reynolds started production on "Back To God's Country," an Alaskan adventure tale starring Renee Adoree. He took the cast and crew to the Sierras, near the California-Nevada border, for what was expected to be a three-day location shoot, but a sudden blizzard left them snowbound for nearly three weeks. The weary filmakers came home on February 24. That night, at a cocktail party celebrating Reynolds' return, O'Connor accused her husband of an indiscretion with Adoree. Reynolds flew into a rage, beat O'Connor savagely, and threatened her with a .38 pistol. One witness claimed Reynolds actually tried to kill his wife, but the gun misfired. Then he shot himself through the head. He died the following morning at a local hospital."

Wikipedia account: "Returning home in 1927 after being snowbound in the Sierras for three weeks, Reynolds telephoned his wife, actress Kathleen O'Connor, to arrange a dinner party at their Hollywood home with another couple. During the dinner, Reynolds and O'Connor engaged in a heated quarrel in which each accused the other of infidelity. With his guests following in an attempt to calm him down, Reynolds left the table to retrieve a pistol from another room where he shot himself in the head."

Lynn Reynolds was best known as a prolific writer and director of mostly "western films".

In 1929, Kathleen married successful Hollywood real estate broker, Clark Reynolds (no relation to Lynn Reynolds) until her death.
James Lacy says: "She was originally buried at San Fernando Mission Cemetery in Mission Hills CA, but was removed and reburied back in her native state in the O'Connor family plot on October 24, 1964.".

Just got the new DVD set "Harry Langdon at Hal Roach: The Talkies 1929 - 30" and while watching "La estacion de gasolina" I was surprised to find this difference between the actual film cast and most references about the cast...

Harry's girlfriend is played by Nancy Dover (the same role she plays in the English language version "The Big Kick"), not Linda Loredo.

It pains me to take away a screen credit from Ms. Loredo, a lovely actress who died much too young, but there can be no doubt. Not only is the actress in the film clearly the same one in the same role in "The Big Kick", but Ms. Dover also is given 3rd billing in the opening credits. Ms. Loredo is not listed in the film's opening credits at all.

Ms. Dover did a nice job with her Spanish dialog in this film (as opposed to Mr. Langdon), she deserves credit for her performance.

born:20 March 1857/1858/1859*.Edgefield,South Carolina.

United States of America.

died: after 30 April 1930.

*On 01 June, 1860, his mother told the Census Taker in
Edgefield, SC, that George was one year old which yields a   birth year of 1858 or 1859.
In 1910 & 1911 respectively, he told news reporters that
he was age 52 & 53.

**His 1911 prison "intake" papers say he was born in
Atlanta, GA on 20 March 1857:age 54: height 5'9".

***His older son and maternal grandfather had the middle
name "Leith".

Real name: George Leith Sullivan***.Height: 5'9".

George's Dad, Robert H. Sullivan (1830- ?) and his Mom's (Mary Penn 1833- ?) parents were successful merchants of dry goods and drugs in Edgefield, SC and Augusta, GA. George was a dry goods salesman in Augusta and left home at age 19 and moved to Atlanta. There he met Jennie McConnell (1863-1881) and they married in June of 1881. A week and a day later, she died suddenly of an unspecified illness. In May of 1882 in Atlanta, he married Mrs. Mary H.(Taylor) Woolsey, the young wealthy widow of King S. Woolsey who died in AZ in 1879 after 8 years of marriage. He was a prosperous gold miner, rancher, "mountain man" and fearless (and feared) Apache
Indian fighter who at age 10 witnessed his parents scalped
and killed by Apaches. He grew up to  become a crack "pistol and rifle shot" who could put Annie Oakley to shame. By November of 1885, Mary was back in AZ and married to her 3rd husband. She died in Yuma, AZ in 1928 as a widow of her 4th husband.

George's daughter, Marie, was born in OH in October 1886. Assuming he was married (no record found), that would mean his wife and mother of his 3 children, Emma Jeanette Clark (b. March 1861 OH), were married c. 1885. The 1900 Census says that she bore 4 children with 3 living. Evidently, daughter Marie married about 1909 but died in CA between 1910 and 1919. His son, George Leith Sullivan was born October 1888 in Cincinnati, OH (died CA 1954). Son, Raymond, was born Philadelphia, PA in November 1893 (d.1948). According to Cincinnati City Directories, he managed various dry goods stores between 1886 and 1892.
In the 1900 Census, Emma Sullivan is living as a "widow" in Atlanta with the 3 children and working as a saleslady.

About 1902, George was in Detroit, MI working winters as a theatrical agent or railroad porter and summers as a hotel clerk. As "George Marion" he "courted" a hotel restaurant head waitress about 20 years his junior, Frances Z. Lee (1880-1909 CAN). They left Detroit for New York City with a professional acting road company. George was the company's business manager. He was business manager with a few other successful road companies but it doesn't appear that he was ever an actor as he later claimed, until his appearance in Hollywood motion pictures. He falsely claimed that he was the "Marion" of "Marion and Pearl", a popular blackface vaudeville team from the 1890's until Pearl's death in 1908. He also falsely claimed that his wealthy mother raised his children in the South after his wife died of a stroke. After his Mom died, his"sister" raised the 2 children in California. This is false as his "Mom and sister" were actually his wife, Emma. He wrote an eloquent, heartfelt statement released to the newspapers which was mostly lies. They "bought it" and raised money for his defense fund.

Between 1905 and 1906, he and his "common-law" wife, Frances, had a baby boy. In August of 1909, they were staying in New Jersey. Frances took the child to Blairstown, NJ to "house sit" while her married sister went on vacation to Canada to visit relatives. She was smitten by a railroad man, James Brooks. They ran off together to Pennsylvania and were married. They went to his home town, Wilkes-Barre, PA where he abandoned her. Stranded, she asked the Chief of Police for help.He helped her get a waitress job at a hotel. George tracked her to Wilkes-Barre and wrote the Chief for help to bring about a reconciliation. On the evening of 20 August 1909, they all met in the Chief's office, amicably. George asked to talk alone with his wife. The Chief obliged. After a few minutes of George asking Frances to take him back, he "went insane" when she showed him the Marriage Certificate (Brooks) and he shot her in the head and heart with the pistol he had brought concealed in his pants leg tied to a shoestring. She died in a few minutes and George surrendered.

In July 1912, the 6 year-old son was living with the maternal grandmother in Zion City, IL. She belonged to the Dowie faith(cult) which founded and "ran" the town. The boy fell out of an upper story window and as he lay dying, "church" members prayed over him instead of calling for medical help. He died.

With monetary help and letters and petitions from the theatrical community and false claims of poor health, George's death sentence was commuted to life in prison in 1911 and he was pardoned and released in July 1918.

Richard, George, and Olive Brasno were "midget" siblings. Of the 8 children born to George Sr. and Anna Brasno, 3 were midgets and the others were "normal" size. Their sister, Elizabeth (Betty), was 5'11" and performed as a trapeze artist for Ringling Bros.Circus for 15 years. As part of the Buster Shaver Act, the "little people" toured Europe and the US as a successful vaudeville act. Their Father died in 1944 in an accident when he fell down the cellar stairs to go down and fetch coal for the landlady. Their Mom died in Las Vegas in 1965 where she and 2 of the boys had been since 1960 operating a bar they owned.

NOTE: The data is taken strictly from Mildred's 1947 CA Death Certificate. Please remember that the information ("informant") was given by a 3rd party who we don't know how well knew Mildred and the information was given decades after her birth.

born: 22 June 1903.
Dover, Maryland,
United States of America.

died: 11 September 1947.
Los Angeles, California,
United States of America.

cardiac failure; decompensation; hypertension.
(age 44)

Real name: Mildred Hawkins.
Usual occupation is ""motion picture actress".

Her Dad was Joseph Hawkins, born in Jamaica (R.W.I.) and her Mom was Augusta Lewis, born in Maryland.

There is a possibility that both parents were actually from Mississippi. The 1940 CA Census has Mildred born in Michigan. She hasn't been positively located in prior Census's, but there is a married Mildred "GLOVER" (b.1896) in the 1920 Chicago Census, living with her husband and her Mom, AUGUSTA HAWKINS! There are too many discrepancies to say definitively that she is Mildred "GOVER".

Links with the discrepancies are given in the sources.

Evidently, Mildred was relatively successful. The 1940 Census says that she earned $1,750 the prior year for 44 weeks of employment as a motion picture actress. She completed 4 years of High School. She also did some stage acting in LA.

A July 1945 newspaper blurb says she had been very ill for 6 months and "confined to her room".
