We’re together, don’t need anyone

The five teens came into the Lower Caverns, some laughing at the joke Graythorn had just told. The cheery teens were all but oblivious to the others in the room as they looked around, pointing to their favorite tables.

“I like that one.” Graythorn said, pointing to the one all the way in a corner. “It’s not too crowded, so we could talk as loud as we want.”
“Ya? Well, I think that one’s best.” Korea said, point to a table to the right. “It’s bigger, and not so quiet.”
“No, we should sit there.” Faini said, pointing to a table on the exact opposite side of the room from Korea’s. “It’s got more sunlight.”
“I think that one is best.” Cara said, pointing to the one at the very front. “Drudges always go there first, as it’s the closest.”
“Can’t argue there.” Shadow said, giving a rare half-smile. The others all murmured in agreement.
“So, we all in favor of Cara’s table?” Graythorn asked, but everyone was already sitting down. Blushing, he took his place.

However, Korea soon got up. “Guys? I’ll be back.” He said, and then scampered away.
When the others saw where he was going, they all sighed.

“Well, at least he still protects his mother. It’s kinda sweet.” Cara sighed, resting her head on the table as they waited. The other three followed suit.
“You could call it that.” Graythorn sighed. Faini shrugged.
“Whatever you say,” Shadow whispered. He was remembering his own mother again, but stopped quickly. The past was dead. The future was now, here, with his friends, the group.

They were the Weyrbrats, and nothing would change that. Ever.
