Subject: Problem replacing FD in CC

Just a straight repair query, but hopefully someone can help.

Just got a CC that works fine apart from it has great difficulties reading FDs (I put in known OK FDs, and either it fails to recognise them at all, or it gives a disk error when I try to access a file on it). Looking inside the slot with a torch showed huge lumps of dust inside, so I decided the only choice was to strip the thing down.

I got the thing apart (eventually... - they sure didn't design these things for ease of access) and got the FD out and blew most of the dust away. Unfortunately, when I got it back together it won't recognise that an FD has been inserted at all. Also, the FD seems to be angled slightly so that the disk seems to dip away from me as I push it into the slot.

Any thoughts what I might have done wrong? The only thing I did with the drive when I had it out was lift up the sprung black plastic assembly that has the disk heads on: hopefully its designed to be moved in this way?

Regards,
Ian
