My family never really talked about spanking,except to threaten it. So I'm really curious about how my grandparents and great grandparents took care of business, but it's not a topic I feel super-comfortable breaching with my parents, aunts, or uncles.

I know my dad once got belted on the bare for wetting the bed, and I sense that he always felt that was seriously unfair treatment. And I suspect my mom got spanked for what she said was the only lie she ever told my grandad - that she brushed her teeth before bed when her toothbrush was still suspiciously dry. I have a few guesses about the spanking rituals in Mom and Dad's respective childhood homes, but I don't know anything for sure. I'm really curious about how my great grandparents handled my grandparents because I have the impression that spankings in the 30's and 40's tended to be more intense.
