In reply to: Rambacker 's message, "This is a very good point. I know several Fordham administrators at high levels that read this board with interest. Such a change in policy would eliminate the opportunity for these people to implement change at FU based on creative ideas posted here. It would also preclude current Board members from posting. This is a huge negative factor for making such a change." on 11:24:57 04/06/05 Wed

The board that I am looking at gets around this possible problem. It merely requires you to register a username with a password. That way only you could post under that name. You would still be able to read the board at will without anyone knowing your identity. For example, if Fr. McShane were to register as "Football Fanatic", there would be no way for anyone to know who Football Fanatic really was. This would prevent multiple people from using the same username, thus discrediting legitimate posters. The way we would be able to prevent alot of the problems is that usernames are tied to email addresses that cannot be obtained by other users. The site also allows you edit your posts, send Private Messages to other users, and allows the moderators to temporarily "suspend" posting rights if someone crosses the line. I fully intend to transfer to a site like this as soon as I can iron out the funding/webhosting issues that someone with my limited webprograming skills has. Once its up and running I would gladly turn half of it into a Basketball forum, under the direction of the Basketball Moderator(s). It would give us the flexibility in the future to also establish a general Fordham Athletics Forum.

The additional features would be to numerous to list here. (NT)Rob Smith14:48:03 04/06/05 Wed

But the e-mail address connected to the username eliminates anonymity, correct? That remains a problem. I think the current board is fine. What has prompted you to change? (NT)Rambacker15:49:28 04/06/05 Wed
