Well, this is a nice change from all the crazy thinking on the CAA. OK, Keeping it real and 1-AA.... and if 1-AA, travel would be limited to the Northeast, so it would be;

Upper tier: Fordham, Villanova, Holy Cross, Georgetown,

Lower tier: Iona, Duquesne, St. Peter's, Dayton

As you can see, the lower tier are mid-majors, although Duquesne has been very strong as of late, beating Georgetown and Holy Cross. Creating this will end the MAAC football conference, which has been on it's deathbed since Siena, St. John's, Caniscius and Fairfield dropped football.

I don't think we need an all Catholic football conference. I'd rather play a good mix of top level 1-AA programs like Villanova, William and Mary, Richmond, Delaware, etc. and continue to schedule two Patriot League teams plus Columbia per season. By the way, I don't advocate a move to 1-A football. If that were to be considered, we would need to play competitvely and fund properly a full scholarship 1-AA team in the CAA for a number of years first. (NT)Rambacker15:01:25 03/14/05 Mon

    BC, ND, etc.... On the other hand, VU & GU.... I dont get the impression that Villanova or Georgetown find much value in the "Catholic college" concept. I think GU tries to play up the secular positon more than anyone, and in my opinion they should be ashamed.... (ie GU: crucifixes taken down in the classrooms- wouldnt see this in 5 million yrs at ND) (NT)Ram121:15:27 03/14/05 Mon
