Not only that, I get the feeling that the PL's rule against athletic scholarships for football is a Title IX dodge, at least for at least some of the member schools. By running football aid through the financial aid department, you can pass the Title IX implications of that aid off through the student body as a whole, without concentrating the impact in the athletic department. You know it is quite humorous if you think about it. In an effort to skirt a gender equality measure, we are also diminishing opportunities for males from affluent families. We should get special Title IX credit for that one b/c although we are not helping women, we are taking opportunities away from some men and therefore evening the field in a backwards sort of way. That's a bit of a stretch, no? We're hardly denying them the opportunity to come to Fordham. We're denying them a free education, possibly. If you were expanding that argument, you are saying that all football playing schools that don't offer scholarships are denying students from high income families the opportunity to play. Bottom Line is Fordham should move to scholarship football.. FU spends similar to A-10 schools (when you apply fin. aid)... so why not field a better team , receive better exposure and get a chance to play a 1A each year... Fin. Aid packages makes it more diff. to recruit than straight scholly's.. FU can keep good company by playing some good academic schools OCC and play a 1A each year.. Lets get this done.. A-10 now..
