Subject: MOM Lehman

Hello to all.

Our Gold Star Mom, Rachel Helen “Mom” Lehman, has passed away. She left us at 97 years of age to be with her husband Millard Lehman Sr. and her son, Millard Lehman Jr. (KIA Binh Thuy, 6 July 1966) this morning at 1030. She passed away peacefully, knowing that she meant so much to all of us. Our Gold Star Sweetheart, Erlyce Pekas, visited with her yesterday to let her know how much we loved her. Mom was a courageous woman, with a calm sense of dignity that came with a wonderful sense of humor. She was tough, too, and had attended 15 of our reunions with Erlyce. In 2007, Mom stood on The Mall with us in Washington, D.C. in the cold staging area waiting to march in the parade so that she could honor our 111, and especially her son. As our Gold Star Mom, she marched up front with the 400 member VSPA formation, the largest unit in the parade to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of The Wall. I am so thankful for her and that we brought the reunion to her last year in Tucson. She will be missed. May God bless her and her family. Funeral arrangements are pending.
