In the 50's and 60's, America was still a country with high morals and values. Most of the country not only believed in God, they practiced their faith. Americans had a strong knowledge and an actual connection with the history of their country, unlike most of the young people today who have been uneducated in American and world history (even recent history). The family was much stronger and as a result, the country was much stronger. People were less dependent on government handouts, making their church communities responsible for the welfare of the poor and needy. This made the poor and needy accountable to their church communities which caused them to work to get off their dependency for charity. The strength of a nation is dependent upon the morals and values of its individual citizens.
