Larry,

You've said you want to help correct errors posted at VSPA. Wouldn't a simple email to me suffice pointing out errors you have been aware of for 18 years, knowing I would address that issue and correct the info? Your post makes it sound as if everything is a giant plot to intentional get our collective history wrong. Until now, the below post was considered "Factual".

Larry, look at the nearly 30 years of ongoing work and efforts by many to post our stories, photos, and history. I don't believe you think anyone sets out to post a made-up yarn. In fact, 'questionable' claims go through a very through screening, including contacts with other branches of service when necessary. A member may send in what he recalls as factual regarding a base attack and it would like receive a cursory review to confirm before posting -- but not always, if from a trusted source. Too many irons in the fire and too few volunteers to spend hours trying to chase down clues. We know there were countless mortar and rockets received that never made the official record. Perimeter probes would likely have made the CSC blotter...but maybe not.

I've already told you that I do not know anything about the 483rd -- you do. Share that with me via email and add what you think needs corrected and what you have done to confirm that info. It is enough to point out the 483rd was not at CRB in 1966. The question then becomes where a perimeter penetration took place 2 Dec 1966. I know CRB bunkers fired warning shots at sampans too close to shore at various times, and that was not always reported to CSC as the 'fishermen' often tested just how close to shore they could get before alarming the SPs.

Work with me to get it right and make it better, and if an additional issue is raised, it would be greatly appreciated for you or someone to help resolve it. You might consider posting on the BB asking if any CRB members recall a base penetration attempt around 2 Dec 1966. Or, check out CRB quarterly reports for such an incident. Or check with one of the CRB members you know and ask him. Try any effort, other than just propping up a very cold-trail 'Facts or Fiction' puzzle for someone else to resolve.

The following is posted at VSPA.com regarding Today's History for APS-SPS and Air Bases:

"December 2 1966, ---- hours: Cam Ranh Bay Air Base: Attempt Penetration. Four 483d SPS fired Automatic weapons on individual attempting post penetration. USAF KIA 0, WIA 0; RVN KIA 0, WIA 0. Aircraft Loss 0, Damaged 0."

I will begin research and post a follow up asap. I have two major-projects I am working on that are maxing my time, but will try to check it out as time permits. Patience please.

Don Poss
