Subject: NEW MEDICAL UPDATE ON JIM COSTELLO

MEDICAL UPDATE - JIM COSTELLO OF THE BROTHERS CANNOLI

Hello to all. Jim's wife, Angie provided the following update:

She and Jim send their love and thanks for all of the prayers and support they have received from their brothers and sisters in the VSPA. The outpouring of love has been a blessing.

Jim was released from the hospital on Monday, as planned. Angie was able to get him settled back home so that he could be assessed by the team of caregivers who would be providing palliative care. They are a blessing for both Jim and Angie. Kind and caring, they will assist with anything and are available 24 hours a day with immediate response if necessary. Angie's main concern is managing Jim's pain levels that vary throughout the day. He is very happy to be home and she is thankful that his loving sense of humor has returned.

Angie shared that Jim usually wakes up in the night at about 0300 hours, has some water or coffee and comes back to bed. Early Tuesday morning was no different. He rolled over and very cheerfully said, "Honey, I'm home" as if he had just walked in the door from work. They had a great laugh and shared a very special moment where humor prevailed and illness was far from their thoughts. They are happy and together, counting the blessings of their love.

Angie stressed that this will be a day by day process of healing and pain management. Jim's daughter and adult grandchildren have arrived to visit and assist them as they did over Christmas.

Jim and Angie are so thankful for the VSPA and really appreciate the cards they have received. Please hold all calls at this time so that they can rest from their time at the hospital.
