When Harvest Comes Calling

Harvest another southern crop of
southern boys to fight another
twenty-year war.

They come running by tens of
thousands—a frightful sight—
hooping and a hollering with all
their might to fight and battle
as they always have,
for love of country
and the girl back home,
the game of war they played as kids,
and now and then when
harvest comes calling.
