So far, I am vertical and ventilating.

Last week, I had a VA appointment with Primary Care. It was my first VA PC appointment in 3 years. I described my ailments while the Doc compared my 2023 Lab results with those from 2020. He is nodding his head and going uh-huh; uh-huh; hmmm, etc. Then, he looked at me and said, "Mr Jones, the problem is that you are bleeding to death." I looked at my clothing and on the floor, expecting to find blood, resembling a CSI crime scene. None found.

The Doc showed me the Lab numbers and the comparison graphs. It looked like the 2023 results fell off a cliff. My H&H (Hemaglobin and Hematocrites were half what they should be They were 7.9 and 29.4, as compared to 13.6 and 43, in 2020. My iron level was down below 4. A week later, my private Doctor ran the tests again and my red cell count had dropped an additional half-point. She ran a whole new battery of tests and consulted with the VA Doctor. They can find no evidence of internal bleeding (Whew!). They have determined that I am severely anemic and need to start iron infusions.

Both Doctors told me I also need to be on an "iron rich" diet. I told them the only green stuff I put in my body are M&Ms, Skittles and Irish beer.
