Yes, that was realy weird The Stones had been playing "Honkey Tonk Woman", since 69, in their "Live" venues, but it had not yet been placed on an album untill it ended up on "Exile". My thoughts were that it was recorded at the same time period as "Brown Sugar",becuse it had Brian on it even though they tried to get rid of the evidence. it also sounded similar to "Brown Sugar", in my opinion. I suspect that the record company knew imediately that it had the componests to be a great hit, and they decided rather than to just include it on "Let it Bleed", which was already considered to be a strong record, they would wait and use it to enhance a lesser album in hopes of pushing the sales, and that is what they did at the time "Exile on Mainstreet" was not met well by critics, or fans.
