In reply to: Tyler Durden 's message, "I disagree...." on 10:07:40 02/28/03 Fri

Firstly not even gonna bother replying to Vijay as it's obvious by the statement they made that they haven't a clue what they are talking about. Up and down the country the same amount of people play darts as play golf, and neither of these two can compete with Fishing.

Secondly I agree with Tyler about the athletic side of darts and the image the game has, and I think a lot of that comes from people who know nothing about the game and just immediately link it with drinking and smoking fags. These people are in the dark ages and wanna actually watch darts before they make comments about all darts players being fat and drinking 20 pints a night etc.

Going back to the fitness side It's probably not as easy as everyone thinks to get up there and throw for up to three hours when with all the lighting and everything the Temperature can reach over 90 degrees - especially at Blackpool in the summer, where the final was played in 104 degrees. -

In all fairness I'd say both sports require an awful lot of skill, Just in different ways. Golf is more timing and Rhythm whereas darts is all about Hand Eye Co-Ordination.
I'd say Darts is a sport where you have to be skillfully more accurate, as with golf if you're not accurate you can still get away with it and make the green in 2 on a par 4 etc - even if you're in the rough. Darts however, if you're not accurate in hitting the 20 then a 5 or a 1 just wont do at top level.
