Subject: Justin has a nature loving twin named Timbuuurrrlake! More on this after the review
In reply to: Patrick 's message, "REVIEWS: Justin Timberlake 12/16/06" on 23:02:52 12/17/06 Sun

So yeah here’s one more review to tide everyone over. The real show had some highlights and some lowlights. It obviously did not compare to the JB episode from last year but it managed to provide some crazy laughs and Justin is a decent host.

CO: Jim, I can see you’re quite the fan of political humor. I do shudder to think how Kenan would handle the Obama impression. It wouldn't work well. But that's completely unrelated. Anyways, I thought it flowed well and had some great commentary on liberals. Very Daily Show-like. I mean everyone says they’re a liberal show, but they strive poke fun at government in general. Overall, it was a bit long but still a great CO that captures the political humor that SNL struggles to capture.

Monologue: Like Jim, I'm not into overbearing celebrity parody. I can handle them once in awhile if they are perhaps different in their own way. That said, this monologue didn't appeal me. But I get the feeling that JT would probably enjoy doing this type of monologue, and the real one wasn't much better.

Wonderful Life: Eh, this was okay. I liked the idea of smacking NBC by using a Christmas tale. However, it got bogged down with the verbal assualts, and the sex & whore lines. It might have worked better if you focused more on how NBC would try to cross promote every bit of their programming within the made for tv film. So in the end, it had a good start, but there's room for improvement.

Digital Short: Not bad Mark. I think some additional dialogue might have helped. maybe Justin could have grunted or talked about "the stuff" during the Conan and Daily Show interviews. But yeah I did enjoy that closing line.

WU: It was a bit low on laughs this episode. I thought the Kofi Annan and Catherine Zeta Jones jokes were the best of the bunch. I thought the George Clooney bit was okay during it's first appearance 2 episodes ago, but now it's kind of repetitive and pointless. I would have worked more on the Day Break commentary a bit more because it had some potential.

Drinking around the Tree: It was spot on parody of Rockin' around the Christmas tree. I particularly liked the rhyme, Vodka up your nose! Overall quite festive and way to make use of Wiig, as I can easily see this being performed! Good sketch Pat!

Dude Show: I think the idea behind 2 dudes hosting a show is interesting. I've been trying to try to write my own "hey we're some idiots-with time on our hands" sketch. That said, I think you had potential but it kind of flopped. There were couple good lines but for the most part it was bogged down with too many pop culture references that were obscure and not very humorous. I would focus more on their natural idiocracy and zaniness.

College Students: This was probably the most absurd college sketch that I've ever read. I also can relate to hard finals. I’m sure they weren’t epic, but they still sucked okay! The sketch started off greatly with the absurd college situations and the zombie and robot attacks. But I think it did drag on a bit with the student protest part. I would have just stuck with the absurdity.

Well that’s all for this review. I’m glad we were had a decent amount of material and I’m sorry I couldn’t get anything together. Well now I assume that most of you tuned in to find out about JT’s nature loving twin (I mean why else would anyone want to read this review? Certainly not to see the comments that pertained to their sketch) Well the rumors are true. He has a twin and he lives in the woods… JAMES WOODS TO BE EXACT. Find James Woods and you will find JT’s long lost twin!
