Then that would make my comment seem like fishing! It was a sincere attempt to be open about my potential bias. It's really not that great, frankly, I'm guilty of using one of Stephen's favorite jokes, dubious sexuality. But it was inspired and sort of referencing all these fellow Colbert enthusiasts I've been talking to. Been meeting a lot of slashers...pretty amusing. I mean, everyone's used to slash about Harry Potter characters and stuff like that...but when newscasters, politicians, pundits, fake newscasters/pundits, etc. get brought into it...well, you get the idea.
Someday I will write a sketch about slashers. And then all my slasher friends will be mad at me. "WE ALREADY GET MADE FUN OF ENOUGH! Not to mention our own tortured souls..."

What I meant about his style was (in roughly his own words) the "high status, well meaning, poorly informed idiot." It's just a little weird to hear him (well, read him) be critical in such a straightforward way, when in his usual persona, if he's criticizing something, it's really to criticize people with the same beef. Like he did with the WHCD - he's all about irony.
Like, I would see Stephen approaching this as a speech about how wonderful and original and funny these guys are.

(after some rereading of your response)

Okay, now I see that you DID mean it to be ironic - I just didn't catch it. Okay. It makes a LOT more sense now. I guess I'm just very used to the concept of writers for these shows. But I think the general American public does not, so that punchline could work a lot better for them.

(Stephen does write a lot of his own stuff, supposedly...)

Jeez, it's okay if you don't like Conan. I don't care. I'm an East Coast liberal teen, clearly my own interests cannot be validated unless there are people that DON'T like them.

I'll shut up now, get back to reviewing...
