Sorry for the lateness of this review, but be lucky that I'm even doing it. I don't know what it is, but I don't like giving advice on other people's sketches or critiquing. It's not really my thing; people should do what they want. Anyhoo...

THE 60TH ANNUAL TONY AWARDS: I'm sure that this was a quick cold opening topic for Mark. Very short, and I did not like the Taylor Hicks' "Soul Patrol" stuff, just because there was too much of it. I actually do like Sudeikis' rendition, though. I did like that you picked something like this to start the show, though.

MONOLOGUE: Not really funny, but I could definitely see Stephen Colbert with his smug smile doing something like this to charm the audience. I don't know if you were talking about Seinfeld or any other comedians, but I actually agree with Hillary in that comedy can and should be different (or even lazy) at times.

CAPTAIN LIPSTICK: Very short again and ridiculous. If there was some sort of plot to this, it may have been readable.

NOW HIRING METEOROLOGISTS: Good sketch setup, but it seemed to lack a bit of humor. I did like the Wilson character guaranteeing hurricanes and such, but nothing popped out at me. Loved the ending, though.

BEAUTIFUL DAY: This was my sketch, and I just wanted to make a few comments. First, this was one of the first sketches I had ever thought of writing, taking it down in my notes years ago. It was going to be called The Umbrella, but I decided not to put the umbrella in the skit.

Also, for any fans of Laurel and Hardy (I'm a huge fan of their short films), may have noticed the similarity of the title to Perfect Day, one of their first talkie shorts. Plus, the plot of one-upsmanship is taken from that as well.

SUMMER PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: I can definitely see Colbert doing something like this, but I don't think you needed Steve Carell or Jason Sudeikis in it.

NANCY DREW: I didn't really like a lot of this, only because I would have liked it better if it was like Law & Order. Instead, it resembled something from All That from when I was a little kid. Some good lines, like the part about chasing Mr. Spencer out of the kitchen.

DR. PHIL: Again, way too short. Mark, your sketches should be longer. I actually enjoyed this, especially the arguments God and Jesus were having being so similar to father/son relationships.

I hope we get this many submissions for the rest of the summer. We can only hope.
