It's quite amusing how many people have managed to find the site through accidental means over the years. And there have been occasions where fans get SNL and SNY confused, with great frustration. fro example: go back about four years on the alt.tv.snl newsgroup, and you'll find a post asking which SNL episode contained the Miss Cleo skit. A couple days later, the poster realized that the "transcript" they had read was actually an original fan composition, though the power of reading it was an almost life-like experience. Urban myth? You make the call.

Then, there are other fans who hate our site with a passion, who take it as a personal offense that we dare to suggest we might be more capable of writing better material than SNL (is it even considered a challenge any more?) Forget the fact that the only reason the site came together in the first place was to provide an outlet for all the disgruntled fans who'd proclaim after a less-than-stellar episode that they could write better material. I only set up the SNL connection to serve as a crutch for the site to gain notice, and it would never have been much of a site if you only had me and one or two others posting material each week. In many ways, the site's much better these days simply because we have a consistent writing team that gives the site a unity that it didn't really have in early years. For that matter, the group of us could easily branch away from the SNL format and exist on its own merit as an online sketch comedy site. It would be awesome to actually produce/film material, as questioned in one of the threads below, but I have no idea how such a project would be accomplished online (my first thought is: slow downloads).

But we have a pretty good thing going here, and it's always great when new people discover what we're all about and want to jump on board that train.
