First off, welcome back Patrick! Hope you had a great time in DC.

Secondly, again I apologize for not having any sketches for this show. But I just couldn't think of anything. Again, I will try to get two in for STeve Martin's episode. I already have one ready, but I'll have to work hard for a second.

Now that all that's out of the way, time for the review!

Hardball: Wow, it's been a while since we've seen a Hardball piece on SNY. Matthew's lines weren't that amusing (maybe I've lost interest in the parody), but those of his guests were great. I really loved the Ron Christie/Al Sharpton bantering; the "panda-ering" line was great. Trent Lott was good for a few laughs, but Pat Robertson didn't really add that much to the piece. Overall, an okay piece.

Monologue: Wow, the promos played a big role in shaping the monologue for this week. A nicely done piece. The joke was simple, but well-elaborated on. It was short and sweet, though I felt the Strokes/Billy Squire line was a little obscure. Still it was very nicely done.

Bill Meets Death: Bergman meets "Cheers". This was an great sketch. I must give you credit, Jason - you're always looking for more unique, creative comedy pieces. And this was no exception. The dialogue was killer (pardon the pun), Bill was a hilarious character, and his interactions with the bartender and Death were incredible. Keep up the good work, Jason.

John Malkovich for Milk: This was pretty weird, but still quite funny. I don't really know if John Malkovich was necessary. Any normal person could have been doing the ad and it still would have been hilarious.

Today on Dr. Phil: I was a little hesitant to read this, remembering the Dr. Phil debacle from Tom Brady's show. But this was a breath of fresh air. Mark, your take of Dr. Phil was quite innovative and steered clear of all the cliches. I found it great, especially when he revealed he wasn't a real doctor. "Candy Grams" was sick and hilarious, and I loved how Phil couldn't hold back his libido in front of her. Very nicely done.

Hockey Game: Another freaky piece from Jason melding the supernatural with comedy. I would have loved to have seen this acted out. It seemed to get a little too gross at times, but other than that it was good stuff.

Elton John, Live in Concert: Four sketches in one show. Mark, you are without a doubt the hardest working man on SNY! I congratulate you for your effort and determination. Sadly, I didn't really find this piece as good as the other three you had for this show. I've lost interest in the Elton John parodies, and the song didn't really seem that funny. But hey, three out of four's still good.
