Subject: I’ve been tagged in, time to give this review so much needed whupping, er… writing
In reply to: Patrick Lonergan 's message, "REVIEWS: Antonio Banderas 04/08/06" on 18:49:00 04/08/06 Sat

You know… more reviews would be great so then me and Jim can tag in other people into this big wrestling match we call episode reviewing.

Daily Crossword: This was definitely absurd in a good way. Idea was good and characters were decent. But this sketch was centered cliché Office Humor, who’s seeing who, boss being a corrupt adulterer. It was a bit standard in that sense. On the other hand, maybe if this was done in a different environment, it would have been more absurd. Maybe some construction workers sitting on a bench or something. but overall it was still well crafted and of course the twist, was a nice touch.

Monologue: Antonio tries his hand at standup. I know you were trying to go for the “it’s so bad it’s funny” gag, but it just didn’t work here. Although the gag at the end about jokes being funnier from Jay Leno’s voice was worth a good laugh. I think Darrell should bring back Leno, it’s truly dead on in my opinion.

Sensitive Police Chief: Not bad, the sketch started off great. The first 2 bits with the chief giving in to the lazy officer and the crazy gun toting officer were excellent. Of course the chief’s interrogation bit was well crafted. The pregnant daughter bit and son’s bit fell flat in my opinion. Lenient Father gag has been done before, I would have just stuck with more lenient police chief gags.

WU: I want to congratulate Mark on providing 90% of this week’s WU. Here’s hoping next week provides a lot of Update Material. BTW this week’s joke of the week was the Oprah killing Grandma joke.

Major League Baseball: Well this was a good idea, but I would have tweaked it up a bit. I would have included something about TIVOs and DVDs considering people also use those to record shows. And maybe work on some more absurd punishments, because this one was predictable and that makes it less funny.

Well… I want to post at least part of my review up for now. Stay tuned for part 2 hopefully soon.
