Is it just me, or does this sketch have a little too much technical information? From Forte/Meyers listing their recurring characters, to what cast members came aboard in 2001, to Pardo mispronouncing Forte's name in the opening credits, it reads more like the writer is trying to prove his knowledge of SNL trivia than pen a comedy sketch. The basic premise of looking at the election results as Forte beat Meyers is amusing, but it never really takes off in that direction. Maybe if you retooled that idea with Forte and Meyers doing a Point/Counterpoint about the election on Weekend Update, then have it devolve into personal assault volleys that Seth "lost" the election and Forte gets "four more years." The key is to keep the dialogue realistic yet funny. I can't picture Meyers delivering lines like: "There were 4 new people hired in fall 2001, Amy was promoted to full castmembers mid-season. Therefore she must have been good. Mean-while Dean and Jeff have been fired. The pressure is on me!" That reads more like an essay than comedy dialogue.
