What’s in a name – Mark A.

Wow! That’s a lot of people you cast. If Halle Berry were a pie she would be a apple pie because apple’s have great shape (as does Halle) apple’s come in various colors and flavors, and she’s a cross genre actress. I’m not a big pie fan myself, but that’s my guess. There might be a better kind of pie out there, but I can’t think of it.

Side note: This is an excellent parody of a talk show set up wise, and the top 6 was my favorite part (although which cereal does Cheri Oteri sound like? I’m confused…but I may have just skipped too many breakfasts in my life time.) I didn’t feel like the idea of them being Scottish-Irish, Russian named twins from Mozambique is all that funny, nor was the Porcelain Gum bit, but again, excellent format parody. The characterization of the host was great.

Rumsfeld’s Press Conference – Mark Jennings Reese II

I don’t know if Brockaw’s rant about season finales really makes that much sense to me. Also, because I don’t pay attention to much on politics I’m pretty uninformed about how Rumsfeld should be characterized so I’m just going to assume you’re doing it right. The first lines come off very rude and I’m not sure the character is given enough motivation to act that way “I’m a man you’re a woman let’s not confuse things” that sort of thing. I’m not sure if that’s a correct portrayal or not. I wasn’t really feeling the blues brothers line, I don’t know if the audience would pick up on it being a blues brothers quote if you didn’t tell them. And so I don’t know if it’s realistic for the reporter to pick up on either, it just seems out of place and awkward to me.

Side note: I really liked the second half. Calling the reporter “missy” and the return “I’m a dude” was very nice. And basically everything after the Blues Brother’s quote I really enjoyed. I liked the pauses you worked into the writing in order to confey speech patterns, nice writing touch.

Double Trouble – DGR4

This idea has a lot of potential for fun, I think you could have taken it farther, have multiple exchanges of switching twins. Or the guys could be twins too. Maybe the twins want to switch dates for a while. Or each thinks its exciting to have two guys in one night. Or the guys getting frustrated thinking his date has amnesia or something like that. There are a lot of ways to justify why sitting at the wrong table with a look a like girl would cause certain reactions other than the true reason. Anyway, great idea, could have gone so much further with it. My favorite line: “that was for always making fun of my My Little Pony collection!” Nice.

Jay-C show – Mark Jennings Reese II
I drew: Ramble

As far as late night talk show hosts go I have to say I greatly prefer Conan O’Brien to any of the others. My favorite line of his is “Stay cool my babies.” The other night, Jimmy Fallon was on and Jimmy did a bit where he did an impression of Conan doing his opening monologue. It was a very good impression but I realized how much smaller Jimmy is than Conan. That’s a red headed giant! Or Fallon is a midget and I never knew.

Side note: The monologue stuff is a very good replica of actual late night talk show joke styles. I still think the cumloads and cumshots are gross, but I’m glad the lights were turned off. Thank you. Adding Bevan’s Seinfeld piece was a nice touch, and putting him down as a co-writer was very kind of you.
