Welcome! This MB was created for fans of the Donald Bellisario Production's JAG's Lt. Colonel Sarah Mackenzie.   I want to ask you all aabout an episode I think in season 10, maybe 9. I can not recall the name.
  It's the episode where Mac is prosecuting a woman and she gets up and knocks Mac out in the courtroom. I remember quite clearly that I was in DC watching this episode while we were at the JAG fans convention.So here I am with my best friend who doesn't watch JAG watching this epsiode while in DC for a convention of crazy JAG fans ok? And I have told my friend here all about the KA jarhead that Mac is and how he will really like the show. So we watch this episode together and after Mac gets knocked out in the courtroom she winds up taking the woman to get her hair done......I remember having a really hard time defending this episode LOL! This just wasn't an episode to introduce someone to JAG.

  • It didn't make a damned bit of sense to me either when I saw it. Okay maybe Mac could be caught by surprise and sucker punched, but the rest of the episode made no sense and was written terribly.   • I had a hard time believing that Mac would let this private give her the slip (especially after voicing her concerns which landed her this gig in the first place). The interesting part in Hard Time was that it showed a more mature Mac. She no longer let personal feelings get the best of her. In spite of being sucker punched, being given the slip and the private's obvious aggressive attitude she still got to the root of this private's demons.   • I would like to think that our favorite marine couldnt be taken out like that w. one punch-- I am thinking that she could have hit her head when she hit the floor. I actually liked this ep b/c we got to see Mac helping this very distraught young woman--the fact that Mac held no grudges when she did all those things to her.   • While I didn't like the fact that they had to show Mac as weak (getting sucker-punched) I liked how the rest of this ep played out. Mac showed compassion for the Private, by allowing her to see & spend time with her daughter, & then went that extra mile to find out the truth. It would've been easy to just escort her to prison & not let her spend time with her daughter & just turn a deaf ear to the claims, but Mac dug & got to the truth. I liked it!   • While I didn't care for or appreciate seeing Mac get cold cocked (typical for TPTB...LOL), I liked the rest of the episode very much. We got to see Mac go the extra mile as she usually did and show the private her compassion, her trust, her always striving for the truth and the facts and helping this woman have a chance in the future not only for herself, but for her having a relationship with her daughter as well.   I was watching Boomerang parts 1 and 2 today and i realised how much the actors have changed from season 5 to season 10. In looks obviously they have gotten older and Cb has grown her hair and gone darker with her hair, but their acting has also changed. I especially noticed it with mac.

  • "Lifeline" is the episode I think of first as well. I think it's sort of proof that, while I enjoyed all parts of JAG, what really *kept* me watching was the ship; meaning I'm a sappy, all-out romantic. If we're talking Mac (since this is the MacBoard), it would be "Four Percent Solution" that comes to mind next; it was such a powerful episode, excellent acting, and still makes me cry every time.       • OhI agree on the whole adultery issue, & those who like to throw it in Mac's face that she is prone to cheating because of an ill-fated, short-lived marriage that she moved past. I think you are right about the terminology, but even getting around to it never made sense for an attorney.         • This was such a stupid story line for TPTB to even THINK of. But on the adultery subject, Mac was guilty according to the law (which she as a lawyer knew) and chose to disregard her legal obligations. The statute of limitations was the only thing that saved her from a courts martial. The military doesn't care about right or wrong, only what the UCMJ states. Totally bogus for DPB.       • I'm glad you were in weekend mode Jennifer. I left myself wide open for you to give him a break alright (I know, where do you want it ...LOL!). Mic filled a void in Mac's life when she needed it. He was a decent guy. Made sure Harm and Mac were not involved before he initially went after her, quit and chose friendship over his job with the baby Sarah incident, questioned Mac on whether she thought he had sexually harassed her and she stated he had done nothing she didn't want him to. I think she found him to be charming and really liked him then loved him I think more as a friend than as husband material.   I just got through watching "The Five People You Meet in Heaven", excellent movie btw. It's based on the concept that when you die, before you go to heaven you meet with 5 people who have passed away before you, that will give you perspective on your life, your accomplishments or failures, and how you effected their lives without knowing it. They all teach a particular lesson.
  
  Judging from what we know of Mac's life. When she dies 100 years from now, who do you think her 5 people would be? Even though she wanted to prosecute at first she came to care for him, went to the hospital to be with him, was there at the end and it appears she was the only one there "for" him.   When you thought of what the season 10 premire would be like in the summer of 04' what did u think would happen? Did you think it would be what it turned out to be? Do you think Mac's illness should have been dealt differently or not at all? Do you think she should have had a more serious disease like cancer?
  
  I think that since they left us hanging on what Mac's illness was, I think it should have been a bigger deal. It should have been an emotional season premire, maybe with Mac having surgrey or recovering from it. In my little romantic heart, i visualized Mac getting sick and Harm sort of sweeping her of her feet. And eventaully they wouldve have grown closer. What are your thoughts.

  • I don’t know that I would have wanted to see it play out on the TV series, because then it wouldn’t have been JAG as we know it. But as a mini-series/movie I would’ve loved to see either Sooz’s ‘The Sweetness & the Sorrow’ or Annie’s ‘The Next Conflicting Phase’ played out on screen. They are 2 unbelievable moving pieces that demonstrate the strength needed to endure a serious illness. I would have loved to have CB & DJE portray those as Mac & Harm. Patient & their families who endure a serious illness like that are far stronger in character than I can ever hope to be. I didn’t see anything weak or wallowing in either of those stories.       • It was cruel, I agree wholeheartedly. I also think they took that route because it was the easiest way to get out of the baby deal. If they'd made Harm infertile then they would have either had him go through an accident that damaged that system, or have Harm and Mac trying to have a baby and it's not working so he gets tested. Both of those are too personal to write about (in thier eyes), of course they could have Harm in the accident, recover quickly and then just be infertile like Mac was, and just go on with the story lines like normal, but they didn't go that way.   Just watched Iron Coffin again today. As usual the submarine stories are always good.
  
  One of those 'why I don't like Bobbie' by Mac episodes.
  
  If she's so concerned with women serving in subs, why doesn't she go for a ride. Maybe they would even be willing to shoot her out of the torpedo tube.
  
  I'm surprise that she didn't mention that she had already taken a ride in a sub for more than two weeks.
  
  Also Meg was on a sub five years earlier and suffered claustephobia.
  
  Mac was great. She showed a lot of patience in the hearing.
  
  Loved the fact that Commander Flanders called her on why she chose to ride with him.
  
  She seems to have a knack of knowing how to deal with men in authority.
  
  She shows them respect and in return gets it back.
  
  Like the way she worked with Flanders to get him to do the right thing without compromising national security.
  
  Listening devices in all the subs will keep them busy.
  
  Liked the way she figured out all the bits and pieces to come up with the right answer, that they had the capability to listen in in the Russian.
  
  I think she shocked the sailors who were speaking Russian and handled it properly though I think she would liked to kill the sailor who made it difficult for her to pass.

  • I have to say I enjoyed this episode tremendously. It was always such a treat to see Mac out on her own working with others. She had such great leadership qualities and awesome people skills, and it was always fun to see her use her language skills. Mac was always such a great communicator (I'm not talking about her and Harm), she gave respect and was respected in return. And I think this episode was a great example of that. I also loved how she handled the whole situation and problem solved it as well.       • No, I disagree. Mac had her people and communication skills before she met Harm. She had them from day one and just continued to grow from there.   I have been watching episodes from the season 2 dvd this week. I watched Cowboys and Cossacks tonight.What differences do you notice about the Mac of season 2 verses the Mac of say season 10? Does she seem more confident, or less? Do you think she was given a stong enough part in the begining of this series or does she seem to shadow behind Harm?
  What differences do you see in Catherine Bell and how her portrayal of Mac changed from very early in the series until the end of the show?

  • It think oddly enough, that the differences in Mac and differences in Catherine are exact opposites. CB was much more comfortable in her skin playing Mac in season 10. Whereas Mac was more comfortable in her skin in season 2 than in season 10. While CB became stronger as an actress, Mac became less self assured, and showed her weaker sides in the latter seasons.   • I've loved the Mac character from day one. The only differences I can say is that with each year that past, Catherine became such an outstanding actress (and continues to this day) and brought more depth and realness to Mac. With each year Mac matured, mellowed, showed us what a fine leader, officer and human being she was. And as the years went on we were privey to more Mac centered episodes because of Catherine's outstanding portrayal, which in turn we got to see more of Mac the woman as opposed to just Mac the Marine.   • I think part of it was by design. Mac came to JAG in full Marine mode but spent so much time with the Navy that their culture, as Cresswell put it, rubbed off on her and she loosened up. I think that coinsided with CB making MAC her own. I think some of the vulnerability we saw in later years was a reflection of the woman coming through the Marine bearing.   Im voting on that poll below and its cool that Katie and her family loves Jag. Im from L.A. and I dont care if Im labeled a boondock. No one can stop me from loving my Jag show and my beloved characters. I have many Midwestern friends who are the most wonderful and classiest people Ive ever known so I think its the Batman fans that need to grow up,get a girlfriend and get a happy life.
  They need to stop playing with their batman toys or reading comics in their basement.
  
  Im just voting but not getting into the dissing games.
  I also wrote a feedback to Warner Bros. it was more for Bruckheimer for CB to guest star in Close to Home and to
  Cruise to hire Catherine Bell for Mission Impossible 4.

  As we all she died while being born. Bud spent time researching and aasking questions about why she died.
  
  He eventually convince the powers to be to try the doctor for dereliction of duty. The doctor hired Mic's firm.
  
  Mic quit rather than defending the doctor against his friends Bud and Harriet. That led to Mic putting his uniform back on and thinking about rejoining the Aussi navy.
  
  At this point with Harm resigning his commission and Mic thinking about going back, Mac moved the ring over to her left hand after ten months.
  
  
  
  The question I have for all of you is
  
  If Bud hadn't sue the doctor, Mic wouldn't have needed to quit his job, he wouldn't have thought about going back to Aussie Navy.
  
  In this case Mic wouldn't be leaving,
  
  would Mac have moved the ring over to her left hand?
  
  would she ever move the ring over?
  
  How would she have answered Caitlin about being with the man of her dreams?
  
  Caitlin thought Harm was the man of her dreams, would she admit to Caitlin that he was?

  • First off NO I don't think Mac would ever engage in that kind of *talk* with Kate Pike. It was truly none of her business, & at this point Kate Pike was just a busy body nosy one who was trying to pry into a place where she had no business being. Just because Kate was more *free* with information on her personal life doesn't mean that Mac would be. Kate didn't know Mac, & she had no business prying into her life.     • I agree with you, Jennifer, with one addition: I don't think she would have moved the ring just then, but I think it very likely she would have moved it eventually. Mic would have found something to guilt her into it. I heartily wish (along with many others, I know) that Mac had simply given Mic the ring back, and wished him a not-too-fond farewell. The number one reason would be that she felt she no longer had any hope of getting together with Rabb and the second reason I have to agree is that she would be guilt-tripped into doing so.   • No, Mac would never have "that kind" of a discussion with Kate. Kate was just a very nosey, immature woman. She reminded me of the type of someone that sleeps around and then goes around bragging about her conquests to anyone that will listen, and also rehashes the particulars with the men she's slept with. I loved when Mac took her apart in the restroom. My favorite part was "That's none of your business, you have a Big Mouth, so shut it before you tell me something else I shouldn't here." She had Kate pegged right on. As for Mic, I agree with the others that said Mac would never have moved the ring, Mic guilted her into it.     • I didn't care for Mic either, but I understand him saying "I'm leaving if you don't make a decision." If I had to wait ten months for an answer to a marriage proposal, I would have the same reaction. He knew he didn't have Mac. She convinced him otherwise (for the moment) by moving the ring over.       • While I agree somewhat with what you're saying Theresa. Like you said Mic knew he didn't have Mac, and he knew that from day one. It was very obvious many many times when they were together, but I don't think Mic would have gotten a clew if you hit him over the head with it. He knew very well he didn't have Mac and he saw the clues from the very beginning and used manipulation.
