Welcome! This MB was created for fans of the Donald Bellisario Production's JAG's Lt. Colonel Sarah Mackenzie.   Rogue was on last week. It's the one where Bud has to go with an agent who test security at different sites and shipyards. Bud goes with the guy when they steal the submarine.
  
  Anyways, did anyone else noticed the house General Ghent lived in was the same one that Harriet bought a few years later when Bud was on the Seahawk.
  
  First time I noticed that was the same house Harriet bought. Never noticed it before. The house really shouldn't be a surprise considering how TV shows like to reair the same footage in as many episodes as possible.

    • Actually jagnut, Mac "doesn't" say that when she's standing at the door and rests and her head and the tears start falling. She "doesn't" say anything, just closes the door and begins to sob. You're confusing that line when she was angry and walked out on Dr. McCool, then came back in the door and said the line you are referring to.   • Those are all moments when Mac is truly sad. I might give the nod to Mac standing in the rain and feeling totally alone with her pain. But I would like to add to these the time she went to the bar and blocked the pain with her first drink in I'm not sure how many years.   • Did Mac ever laugh? Really laugh? The supressed snickers in the 'Delilah' scene come close, but I can't remember Mac ever really laughing.   • I miss the quality of that show. Although it really flew under the radar it is one show that only gets better over time. The inside jokes, things conveyed with just a look and the chemistry amongst the cast was just like a well oiled machine. This is the one DVD collection that will not collect dust on the shelf. There are so many episodes that are just so much fun to watch and others that leave you screaming get those two together LOL! • Hey folks, a poster over at the unofficial CB board posted the pictures and article CB did for Military Spouse magazine. CB is on the cover of the Feb. 2007 issue and there's a great interview and more pictures inside. The poster scanned all the pictures including the cover and the interview.   • You know a lot of people really liked this movie so I will try to choose my words carefully, I didn't like the movie and would not have wanted CB or DJE in those roles. There was a scene in this movie that made me uncomfortable. Perhaps the line between sex and violence is a bit too blurred in this movie?   Well I started watching some of the season 2 dvd
  
  I cheated, I picked my favorites to start watching and then thought I would go back and watch some that didn't really stand out for me. I watched "We the people" just to remember how it all got started, I watched "Secrets" and then I had to skip to my all time favorite "Full Engagement". I really enjoyed watching this one again, I guess believe it or not this might have been where my shipper heart started forming. We learn quite a bit about both Mac and Harm in this episode, and this is the one that made me be a Mac fan as well as a Jag-nut, I was hooked.
  
  I thought I would start us off here with some questions, feel free to add to them and discuss anything in the season 2 dvd that you would like to discuss.
  
  
  What has been the episode you most enjoyed watching again?
  
  Did you watch episodes in order or did you start with your favorite one?
  
  Did you find any episode where you didn't remember certain scenes or scenes that perhaps you have never seen since USA network seems to cut them up?
  
  Did you find any episodes that you have not ever seen before, or one that you did not remember? It has been a while since I have seen some of them.
  
  
  OK admit it, which episodes did you see where you knew all the lines in the episode?? LOL!

  • I admit that I haven't yet watched the whole DVD! I've been so busy, and I can't relax to concentrate and watch unless I know I have enough time. I was trying to watch in order, but I did skip ahead a bit to Full Engagement, a favorite of mine also.   • Well I wanted to hear the commentaries and also see what extras they had. I would really wished they had commentary on Full Engagement as this is one of the episodes that really cemented the Harm/Mac dynamic in terms of them potentially becoming more than just colleagues IMHO.   • I loved the 'We the People' eppy with CB's commentary. She just did a fantastic job commenting on the episode. I laughed so hard and tidbits and comments were so fun and lighthearted and just made me enjoy the episode that much more. I love how CB can make fun of herself and laugh and loved all the little secrets she filled us in on that I never noticed before. As far as Patrick and Karri's commentary...quite boring.     • I laughed all the way through CB's commentary. Loved the comments she made about her co-stars. Loved how she laughed at Mac and Webb falling in love 9 seasons later (which really it was 8, but anyway) and said "who would have thought?" I'm with her. Loved the comments she made about DJE looking good in a tank top, and saying "get up here handsome" when she pulled him into the chopper, talking about her and David getting cool sunglasses together and deciding to wear them but weren't allowed.   • Catherine's commentary was just delightful and fun. I loved all she had to say and laughed right along with her. It was always reported that she thought very highly of John M Jackson and how highly she regarded Steven Culp's acting. I know in an interview, Steven said his favorite people to work with on the show were Catherine and Randy. Loved her analysis on Patricks/Bud's contribution of sweetness and comic relief he brought to the show. Loved the shows, but I'm trying to understand why they didn't put them in order on the DVD????   I was debating last night with a very dear friend of mine, as to whether Mac would change her name at marriage.
  
  I never believed that she would. There's really no reason to. I've never seen her as traditional or a conformist for conforming's sake. She has overcome so much in her life, and I believe that she has a strong sense of self, name and identity. I'm talking about social situations as well as work situations. She is Sarah Mackenzie, that's who she is.
  
  The argument that was given, and it's not necessarily a bad one, is that Mac wanted what every woman wants, a good man, a family etc. My countering question was, "why does keeping her name make her marriage any less of a family? Or her husband any less of a good man?" It was also said that she wanted what Harriet had. I put in that Harriet was never referred to as "Roberts" that I can remember on the show, besides at her and Bud's actual wedding when Harm announced them. And then he didn't even use Harriet's first name, but Bud's first and last, conforming with military tradition. In public or private Harriet was always Simms before that and after that.
  
  Harm knows Mac better than anyone else, he loves and respects her as she is. He knows how hard she's worked to establish her identity, not just at work but even in her own heart and mind. I don't see him asking her do something for him that he wouldn't do for her, or asking her for any changes, or her giving him any even if he asked. A name is a very personal thing. Maybe the most personal thing someone can have. You strip someone of everything they've got, all they've got left is their name.
  
  What do you think? Is Mac a traditional sort for traditions sake? Does she fall in with the masses that say "the woman takes the man's name, it may not be right, but that's just the way it is"? Or would she hold on to her name simply because it's hers? Or would she think something totally different about it than the ideas that I've presented?

  • I think professionally Mac would still go by MacKenzie....that's how the Corps knows her, she's made a name for herself, and I think she's proud of her name & her accomplishments & would keep using MacKenzie professionally. Privately, I can see her using Rabb, for a more uniform/harmony standpoint. Though she's proud of herself & her accomplishments, I think she'd also be proud to carry Harm's name (as she's proud of him too) & away from work I can see her using Rabb. I'd love if any kids they had would honor both parents, with perhaps MacKenzie being a middle name or a hyphenated name. But Mac the Marine IMHO would stick with MacKenzie.     • It's interesting the different ways that people see a character. I just don't see either of them changing it, as they have always portrayed them equally matched in all ways. Harm is not a chauvinist as Mac pointed out to him, and so, unless he was talking about a body part or body function, would never say "because I'm a man, and you're a woman...(fill in the blank)" If love and pride in Harm would prompt Mac to change to Rabb, then equal love and pride in Mac would prompt him to change to Mackenzie, and then they'd still have seperate names. Simpler to just declare equal love, pride, and respect, and keep their original names. Of course socially they could both go by both names. That would work, it's be unified and equal as well.   • Here's another thought on that - and I admit I read it in a fanfic, so it's not my idea and I don't say I necessarily agree; it's just something to think about - Her family, particularly her father, didn't really leave her a great legacy at all. Now that she's with Harm, she might want to change it, not because of conventions, but because of starting new, happier family traditions with a new name; somewhat severing herself from a past that has brought her much heartache?       • I don't think she would either. Mac's father was a drunk, but Harm's father was a adulterer (with Jenny Lake), so they're even on that score too. Neither of them got their name from particularly honorable people. They both made their own honor with the names that belonged to them since birth. Mac could have changed her last name to O'Hara to honor her Uncle Matt or her grandparents. She had options. She decided to keep MacKenzie, and even went by Mac to the people closest to her. Is it possible in the US for both partners to have a double name? Coz in Germany (I read up on that!), it is NOT allowed.             • In the US anyone can do anything they want. At marriage or at any other time in their lives for whatever reasons they want, they could both change their names to Prince or Princess Banana Hammock if they wanted to. I know about five couples where both partners to take both names. Too bad that men aren't given the same freedom of choices in Germany as they are other places. So he chose to speek, because even if the timing wasn't right she would at least know he still wanted to have a family with her. No matter how it happen "like we planned".   I enjoyed working on this 14 day production. There was an incredible cast and crew who went into making this movie. George Buza was such a great guy. After his recent loss, he did a superb job. Little Emily Swiss was a sweetheart and I shall forever be known as the "bird man" because of her. ;) Catherine was so sweet and kind and down to earth. She's one of the few actor's I met who's still in the "real world". In this show, you'll see my old leather couch go up in flames in one terrifying scene. this production was very thought provoking even in watching it being filmed. Very interested in seeing it aired. It's like one of those 200 page novels you read as a teenager when you hated reading and just could not put down until you finished. I read the script while filming the call centre scene and had to finish it before I could go back to working. A great read and a great story... for those interested in paranormal/psychological mysteries as this.

  • I just have to say that this was an Amazing Movie with an Amazing Performance by Catherine. I was right there with her on her rollercoaster of emotions. I said it over at the Unofficial CB Board and I'll repeat it here, WOW, WOW, WOW! What a treat it was to see Catherine finally headlining and showing all that she can definitely carry of movie or show. She just has the whole package and I believe she is well on her way to bigger things. • Just notes of interest. Two of C.B.'s SSV castmates were in Thrill Seekers/Time Shifters. Michael's Dad Henry Waiverly (Lawrence Dane) played FBI Agent Baker and Michael's doctor Elaine Trussle (Mimi Kuzyk) played Casper Van Dien's boss at the paper. Other things the brain connected to were the names Bud, Annie, and Emma and the 5 year plan. The fainting made me recall C.B's recent role in Law and Order SVU. • I think that C.B. did a MAGNIFICENT job. Knowing what the major spoiler was, I was afraid it would diminish the overall effect of the movie for me. Because of C.B.'s haunting portrayal of being driven so forcefully by outside forces I was totally engaged and drawn into the performance. My long time wish to see a C.B. driven piece was finally answered and so worth the long wait. I am now ready for her next major project that maximizes her onscreen time (which will hopefully be in the near future). Bravo Catherine you have much to be proud about.   I am not sure if we discussed this before but I was thinking this week I have been enjoying the MASH reunion on tv land, would you like for JAG to have a reunion? All of the cast is gathered around discussing their favorite episodes. Wouldn't that be cool to see a JAG reunion?

  Personaly, ( I am not sure if it is politically correct to answer your own post LOL!) the idea of them all discussing episodes might be kinda cool. However, the idea of a JAG tv movie kinda scares me especially if it were to pick up from the coin toss. My first thought is that of course I would want to see more of Mac and Harm. Then on second thought, right now we have a happy ending. I was always afraid in the later seasons that one of our dynamic duo would be killed in the line of duty. For some reason this thought occured to me back when they were discussing the possiblity of a season 11 I don't know maybe I am just being paranoid. What do you all think?

  • In all honesty Im against a JAG reunion and most TV families are too because they feel it always ruins the happy high note where the show ended.   • As much as I enjoyed seeing Mac and Harm together, this is one kettle of fish I would rather leave alone. The way it was left, let people come to their own conclusions. I think I would have been happier with everything if I didn't have to suffer through so much Vukovic, since this was probably the last time we would be seeing H & M. I just felt so robbed of precious time. A reunion of the characters to reminisce, I think that format may be a thing of the past now that we have DVD's out with commentary. I will go out on a limb and say that C.B. will be too busy with other projects. I think she has moved on from JAG.     • I agree with you Jubellant. It was left to my satisfaction, although I would have watched a Season 11 because I watched for Mac. But I like the fact that it ended with them together and it's left to the imagination of the viewer what post they went to. In my mind they are sunning/beaching in San Diego. JAG is over and they've all moved on so I'm content with my JAG DVD's. I'm of the firm belief as well that Catherine has very much moved on to new and challenging and very different projects for her future career and I can't wait to see what else she's got in the works for us along with "Still Small Voices (ON TONIGHT...WOOOHOOO) and "Army Wives."   The coin ends up landing balanced on its side. General Cresswell pulls out two brown envelopes and hands one each to Harm and then to Mac as their engagement presents. He stated that he had spoken previously to Admiral Chegwidden who thought he would be foolish to lose either one of them. Some strings had been pulled and neither one of them were going anywhere.

  • Oddly enough I am quite content in how FWAFS ended it gives everyone the opportunity to choose whatever ending makes them the happiest. There is no way tptb could have made everyone happy.     • I agree with you jagnut.....There was no way TPTB were going to make all fans happy, so while the ending wasn't definitive in either direction, each fan depending on their POV could formulate Mac & Harm's lives after FWFS.....I still blame the network for not giving JAG an ending point, I don't want to go back & forth about the whole DJE leaving stuff, but the network gave TPTB a chance for renewal (whether you agree or not) & I think the network should've been more upfront & said at the beginning of the year "this is it.." and have them as well give JAG a proper send-off, give it credit for being a long-running show, but it never happened.   • I have to agree with Jennifer and jagnut. I too am quite content with the ending we got in Fair Winds and Following Seas. I thought Don Bellasario did a great job with the last minute notice that CBS gave him on the show not being renewed. We got the flashbacks and the piece de resistance in the last 7.5 minutes.   • Gosh interesting question! Well first off Harm would either be dead or in jail for murder without Mac's existance....he never would've found out the truth about his father....Chloe probably would've ended up dead as well, & would've never known her father. Mattie would never of been placed into Harm's custody & gosh knows what would of happened to her....The private Mac escorted to prison & ended up exonerating would've probably still been in jail...this is an endless question, its really hard to pinpoint. I don't think any of us realizes just how *much* we individually touch other peoples' lives, & it may seem as though we haven't or that we haven't done anything, but in most cases I think we all, in some way have made a positive impact on at least one person.
