'Cause it feels like it's a movie about losing
Only this time it's us
And we're counting on a surprise ending
Only this time it never does come

Just finished her shift at the restaurant, she stepped out on to the street and glanced down the sidewalk to her left before heading right - towards the bars and clubs of the strip that were just now starting to get busy, and the beach past all that. She was parked down this way, but also happened to be in the mood for a quick drink before heading home. Things just seemed to be getting crazier with her brother back - temporarily - and nothing seemed to be getting any better. Fashioning her typical all-black work attire - a tulip-skirt that fell just below her knees, boots, and a thin deep v-necked sweater - her make-up wasn't heavy but was dark and her blonde hair fell in tightly arranged ringlets, and she looked a little classy for the crowd in the bar that she pushed in to, but felt right at home. She'd grown up around boys and as much as her dad had always protected her, he'd never sugarcoated anything - the sometimes rowdy, sometimes obnoxious, but mostly harmless, groups didn't intimidate her and really she barely noticed them as she made her way up to the bar. Shifting on to a stool, she exchanged a smile and a quick hello with the female 'tender and put in her request for a rum and coke, then just linked her fingers on the smooth cool surface of the bar and closed her eyes lightly for a moment, inhaling a long deep breath - completely content in the dark, noisy anonymity...
