• He smirked at that and glanced over to her, letting her mull over that question as he switched lanes and changed gear in his truck. "Why do you think Im here?" He asked curiously... clearly she'd given it some thought or she wouldnt have asked him... and he liked to hear peoples perceptions.... also he was stalling for time, still deciding whether he would give her the truthful version or the cover-up version. As they approached the parking lot of the beach, even though the dark was quickly closing in on them, she sat up, her eyes drawn to the waves - it was this way everytime, she had drifted into the other lane of traffic more than once, just looking at the waves as she passed by, unable to take any time to stop. She looked back over her shoulder at him. "Can we stop? Just for a few minutes." • He tossed a glance towards the ocean and then her, before he merely nodded and swung the car off the road and into the parking lot smoothly. He understood how she felt... he;d felt that way once. But he'd just gotten board with it all... or grown out of it all... he wasn;t sure which- all he knew was the ocean didn;t hold the same allure to him that it once had. He turned off the engine and got out, going round and opening her door for her, offering her an easy going smirk. "Home sweet home?" • "Just a quick stop." She grinned, her toes itching to feel the surf against them, and hopped out of his truck, letting him close the door behind her. "That's very gentlemanly of you." Her shit eating grin showed she was clearly teasing him. She took up stride beside him, looked over her shoulder cheekily. "I'll race ya.." And before he could answer, she took off, her sandals, typical wear except when she was actually running for training, slapping noisily on the pavement until she hit the soft sound where her stride faultered just a touch when she looked over his shoulder to see how close behind he was. • Andre cocked a brow at her in suprise as she took off, hesitating until she glanced back to see where he was, and a grin spread over his features. He lost his own sandles and took off after her, catching up to her as he ran like he hadn;t run in a long time, the sand cushioning his steps. • She shrieked involuntarily as she saw him approaching when she whipped her head around for one last look, her blonde hair whipping around her head, getting in her eyes, faltering her step even farther - she didn't slow much but enough so that he at least had a chance of catching her as she reached the shoreline, running right out of her sandals and into a few inches of surf, the advantage of capris keeping her clothes dry for the time being. Once she hit the water, she started up the beach, staying in the water. Bo would have loved this game of chase, but she had left him at home, opting to keep Andre's truck free of hair and slobber. • Andre hit the water about the same time as her, his shorts getting splattered in water as his feet entered the ocea. He laughed and stopped, glancing to her with a grin- perhaps one of his first since she'd met him. Then she straightened, throwing her arms out to the side, and gave herself a spin or two until she was out into the knee-deep water, the first three or four inches of her capris getting wet - she laughed like some little girl. "It feels like it's been a year.." She bent, trailing her fingers through the water and flicking a bit off the ends of her fingers towards him. "I think I would be a mermaid if I could." • "Then I would smell bad!" She frowned as he waded out of the water - she had almost counted on an evening swim.. and then followed him out - it wasn't fun when only one person was sopping. She flicked her toes at him this time, leaving splotches of water on his shorts as she closed in on him on the beach and then flopped down beside him. "You're boring, you're supposed to get way wetter than that. It's called spontaneity. You should try it, it feels good." • She copied his flopping motion, onto her stomach instead though, her head near his, propping her top half up with her arms folded under her so she could look at him - cause.. damn.. it wasn't a bad view. "I'm not kidding, it's fine.. haven't you learned anything - cold air makes warm water! And besides, if you waited til it was warm, that wouldn't exactly be spontaneous, would it?" She kicked her legs up, bouncing them over her back like a five year old watching tv.. she turned sober as quick as he did, and listened intently when he finally spoke again. "Oh?"   • She just listened quietly for a moment, watching his features in the waning light, her brow furrowed. This was deep stuff - she had figured out that he was locked up tight the first day she'd met him but she wasn't sure how to figure this - She had yet to meet another aimless twentyfive year old man that was actually worried about not having any direction in his life. She couldn't say she had ever been in his situation.. she loved the surf, and that was it - it was a part of her soul and she couldn't imagine it not ever being. "Is it helping? Being back here?" • That brought a smile to her face - thinking of them as soaked sea rats, hardly ever out of the water long enough for her thick hair to dry, and rarely finding a dry towel in the whole house. The gang of them had been lucky to have houses near the water or they would have been able to buy out every oil field there was in gas. She brushed off his comment about her - she wasn't doing anything, or if she was, she might have felt guilty that her motives were getting different results, meaning different things to him. • That drew another smile from her lips and she tipped to her side to place a hand on his chest reassuringly. "Don't worry, honey, I used to kick everyone's arse all the time. Still do. It must be your ego conveniently erasing that from your memory." This was more her realm of comfort, of conversation, teasing and playful, that was just her demeanor. It was hard for her to remember that far back as well, though, she had to admit -- she had had so many experiences, travels and met so many people in her short life that stuff that happened at the beginning was starting to fade. I think I could kick your ass on the waves or off." She shifted off of her stomach and sat up, her body towards his feet and her feet towards his head so she could see his face without craning her neck, drawing her knees up and winding her arms around them again. • She nodded a bit, her mom had told her time and time again that it was the waves, but her Uncle Bo had told her a far different story - she was sure her mother was reluctant to share it because of how veunerable it made her. "She says she did, but she was actually running away.. or looking for something. Her best friend was shot right in front of her in California, so she hit the road and ended up here. She must have saltwater in her veins because coincidentally, the waves turned out great. Everyone just followed." She spoke slow and quiet, suddenly turned sombre at the thought of her mother's fragile sanity at that time. She herself had felt, in the past, a real sense of being on the brink of disaster emotionally, with no real motivation, but she couldn't imagine what Ace had gone through. She shrugged a little bit - moments like this, recollecting the pain her mother must have gone through made her feel guilty for being who she was, being beligerent and having a poor outlook on life occasionally. People had it so much worse than she did - "And me, I'm just here for the waves." She offered a bit of a smile though the heavy subject matter they had just been discussing still hung over her head. "Mom turned this into a haven for surfers without any real effort. As soon as people found out that Ace Bergin was training here, it became a hot spot. It really flourished." His father hadn;t known any of them except Jordan- who he'd met at his home in Australia and had travelled the sufring world with- eventually following him over here to were his friends little sister and their group of friends now resided. They had been to La Jolla first, but had been told they'd moved on here. Andre's father had liked the place and the people so well he'd stuck around- and eventually hooked up with Cadence. Andre nodded, glancing over to Aislinn with a smirk "I can imagine... she was the first of a few... Roxy Moon came form these parts too... And I hear that chick thats starting to make it big hangs here too... Aislin something or other... " he smirked and glanced at her out the corner of his eye, trying to lighten the topic. She couldn't help but chuckle a little bit - that's what they'd said when she was fifteen and sixteen - she wasn't an incredible amount more talented now than she was then, but they sure didn't call her a prodigy anymore. "I think you picked a good spot to find your love of the waves. Something about them here.." She looked out over her shoulder at the water breaking behind her.
