I really just want to respond to the last point. One world culture can be extremely diverse. I am not for homogeneity. I like variety as well. There would still be people that are fascinated by cheese or that "thought too much of themselves" (I would ascribe that quality to Americans as much as to the French) but these people would not be defined by their culture, which, if you think about it, is nothing more than the result of the isolation of a community (race, religion, language, food, etc...) Think of the dissolution of nations as the beginning of a new kind of individuality, not of homogeneity.

What makes you who you are? Yes, it is your culture (race, religion, nationality etc...) but is that all? Couldn't you quite possibly have more fundamental similarities with someone that lived across the ocean than you do with, say, someone like me? Better yet, what is American culture? America is, and always has been, a nation of immigrants. Isn't America, the country you take such pride in, just an amalgamation of British, French, Spanish, Irish, Italian, Chinese, etc., cultures? Isn't that the globalization that you were talking about?

I believe that the globalization that you were referring to was is the one where a few corporations control the entire world. That sounds like a nightmare scenario to me as well.

By the way, McDonald's are different. Maybe not in this country, but have you ever had a Lamb McSpicy? I have, in Londaon where Indian food is as easy to find as fish and chips.

As an American, for the reasons stated above, I really don't feel like I have much of a tangible culture. What would it be? The people in my community of different races and religions. I think that if America has a culture, it is the culture of consumerism. But I don't consider myself to be defined by it. I have no religion, I don't care about race, I like all kinds of food, I listen to and write all kinds of music with influences from all over the world...

Okay, about the documentary. Yes, it was produced by moveon. HOWEVER, the credentials of the MANY people interviewed are impeccable. That is why I would challenge you to actually watch it. I would even mail you a copy. There is no way you can argue with this documentary. How could you argue with so many experts - so many facts?
