Subject: Interesting insight

I was watching yesterday's Rangers-Yankees game and I doubt many of you got to hear the Ranger telecast, but an interesting point was brought up by former player and G.M. of the Rangers, Tom Grieve. Donald Fehr has convinced the entire league that they must strike if the owners don't give in, yet the issues he is fighting have nothing to do with 98% of the league in the 1st place. So what if revenue sharing and the luxury tax create a form of salary cap if you're a guy who makes 300K to 3 mill? Whether it's there or not David Eckstein, Raul Ibanez, Luis Alicea and guys on that level, and even all the way up to 2nd tier stars like Mike Cameron, Ryan Klesko, and Brian Giles, a salary cap is NEVER going to effect their pay in the 1st place. This preening and posturing is being done to protect the earning power of the next A-Rod, Jeter or Griffey, because the truth is those guys will never need to worry about contract negotiations again anyway. Bud Selig is so often accused of looking out for himself and his Brewers, and I don't doubt that it' true in many cases, but just who in the hell is Fehr looking out for, and why are so many men willing to follow him into unemployment? Maybe the Benji Molina's and Chris Richards' of the game should take a closer look at what they are going to lose as opposed to what they have to gain before they just join the crowd.
