As she swayed, grasping his forearm to steady herself, Paige's concern for her well being reared its head once more. He honestly wasn't sure what it was about her that pulled at him so, because it really had never happened to him before. He'd seen more than a few women in bad places, but never had he felt a need to intercede. But he felt like he was the last hope for this woman, the last thread that kept her very world from unraveling. Why on earth he had that feeling, he hadn't a clue. But it was buried so deep down in his very soul that he hardly had a thought on it but the idea of leaving her here... It was inconceivable
"That's alright, I'm actually surprised you're as steady as you are" He patted her hand where it rested on his arm, slightly surprised at how bony it was. "We'll get some food in you along with that drink. Between the two, you should be good as new" Maybe a pizza if the bad didn't have anything of substance. But if she needed food badly enough to be light headed, he was going to be sure she got something to eat.
Then, as he held the door for her, she was tilting towards him, looking like she might collapse against his chest. Just as concern was starting to cloud his gaze, draw across his brow, as he answered her question she flinched back. The look on her face was shock and pain yet she was stepping closer, gazing up at him like. Gods, it was like she was going to kiss him and he was so not OK with that right now. Not after what she'd been through.
But then the tables turned an she drew back and slapped him. Hard! Then she was hissing and spitting and cursing at him. And, before his head even had time to stop spinning from her blow, she was storming away as if he'd done something awful! And he was left standing slack jawed and shocked by her actions "What the hell?" He said aloud, raising a hand up to rub at his stinging cheek. What the fuck was that for? What on earth had he done to deserve even a half, hell even a quarter of that?!? "You'r going the wrong way. That'll take you into the warehouses." And that place couldn't have changed much over the years, if the rest of the town was any indication, the warehouse district had only gotten worse. "Hey, I don't know what I said to piss you off, but I'm sorry. At least go to the motel and get yourself some rest. You'll get yourself killed if you go that way" What else could he do but try to talk her out of going that way? he couldn't exactly go grab her and drag her back to his truck! For one, he'd likely get his eyes clawed out if her little fit was any indication of her pissed off side. For another, she'd just get back out of the truck again. But his conscience just wouldn't let him let her go! Stupid thing!
