Subject: Hi Brett, thanks for posting the results so quickly. I am impressed with the level of passion that everyone conveys, positive or negative towards this year's pageant. At least it is being discussed. For many years I only thought that it was Jimmy and myself that had any interest in what happens at Canadian pageants. So it is great to hear from other people also passionate about our pageants.

I can understand the animosity of some that think that the pageant results may be rigged or at least tainted. Preferential treatment may be alloted to some over others. When watching the pageant as a pretend judge, none of that mattered to me. I was there critiquing the pageant based on what I observed without any preconceived notion of any of the delegates or their history or relationship with BOC. I had selected 9 of the top 10, and all 5 of the top 5 solely based on each delegate's performance on that evening. I wasn't influenced by reputation, but I was impressed by all who made it to the top 5 final. Anyone could have won, and it was up to the final question to sort it all out as far as i was concerned. Does exposure to other pageants give an unfair advantage? Sure does, no one disagrees with that. In reality, any beauty pageant really is an extremely glorified interview process for a job that only lasts 1 year. And like any interview process, the more practice that you acquire and get the more prepared you are to do well. Does that necessarily mean that you will win? Well it does give you an advantage, so I do agree with that point that my fellow posters make. But that is the nature of this industry, the pageant industry. When it is was down to the final 2, Sahar and Samantha were my final 2 choices as well. Both were clearly the stand out delegates that night in my opinion, they rocked the pageant. Did their previous experience give them an advantage, probably yes. But I wasn't influenced by the candidates association with BOC or with Denis or whether she resided in Toronto. On that evening at 10:28 pm Samantha was selected as the representative of MUC for 2008. And I am very happy for her.
