Dancing in Australia is dying because of this. They should have tried to reschedule or postpone the nationals, what are the kids working towards now? By December/Jan I'm sure millions more Australians will be vaccinated.... To keep your head up high and work hard time and time again, to then have everything cancelled is so crushing.

  • This is the problem with the current generation of dancers and parents. You are so focused on the competitions and results, that you don’t dance purely for the love of it anymore. The focus has completely shifted and it’s sad. It’s disappointing that nationals have been cancelled but that doesn’t mean Irish dancing will die. Irish dancing was strong back in the day when we barely had any competitions. Use this time to focus on dancing for enjoyment, not just competition. (NT) -- ., Mon, Aug 16 2021, 23:53:46"
  • the problem of "Dancing for the love of it" is the teachers. If you go to classes but just want to dance and not compete, the teachers won't be interested in you. In the 2 schools my daughter has been to classes all revolved around preparing for the next feis. My daughter still loves Irish dancing but doesn't want to compete anymore. but there is no place for this in AIDA schools. (NT) -- We had no option but to leave, Fri, Sep 24 2021, 12:41:12"
