Author: Clear conflict of interest.
Subject: Different tunes suit some choreography better than others, knowing which tune will be played for you at a feis and it perfectly matching your choreography is a definite advantage. And at the beginner level when kids are not yet used to dancing to unknown tunes it would be even more of an advantage to their beginners. After all, how many young ones have been thrown by a new slip jig tune and not known when to start. It happens often.
In reply to: - 's message, "I think it’s laughable that you believe having your teacher play the music at a Feis will somehow make it easier for their pupil to win. What exactly can a musician do that wouldn’t be obvious to the audience/other Teachers? If there is an error with the music being played (apart from speed in a set dance, which must be picked up by the dancer prior to beginning their dancing) then those affected would be permitted to redance." on Fri, Jan 13 2023, 7:24:48"
