Subject: identifiers on costumes
In reply to: - 's message, "I think it's (only just) ok to have dancer's first name on a dress, although I don't know why you would, as it gives the impression of cheating so why would you want that? But teamed with school identifiers like patches with school initials or a specific design area on a dress, cape or headpiece, it is there for a reason and that reason is cheating and those that do it need to be called out and stopped." on Thu, Feb 09 2023, 6:18:34"

I don’t understand in this day and age why you all complain about names etc on costumes! Social media has taken anonymity away from what school a dancer dances for. Teachers pose with dancers and post to their personal accounts as well as the school accounts. Dress makers name the dancer and the dance school when they post to social media.
Social media is a communication tool for family and a big business and advertising tool for business and individuals.
If adjudicators were fair and their judging was not completely subjective I believe when a dancer is introduced to the stage eg- competitor 101, sally smith from the smith school should be what is announced! This is truly the ONLY way to prove costuming (with or without identifiers) has no play in results.
How far do you take it? Like blondes or redheads can’t wear a blonde or red wig so the dancer can’t be known as the blonde in u9 or the redhead in u10?!
I would like to see there be key points that adjudicator marks a dancer on, traditional element to dance, carriage, turnout, crossing etc!
Rant over 🤣
