Subject: I have lost all faith in the competitive side of Irish dance. I do not see why anyone would spend the large amounts of money it takes to travel for "majors" anymore. Don't get...more..
In reply to: DM 's message, "AIO - In light of all the cheating scandal surrounding ID, do you think numbers will be down for AIO?" on Tue, Apr 25 2023, 19:45:38"

Don't get me wrong, I have been there, done that, spent the thousands. But not any more. When it is plain for all to see that CLRG are going to do absolutely nothing to fix the current situation, what is the point on throwing more and more money into competing, especially overseas, when we now know what we know?

Yes, they are making gestures of no numbers (they don't need numbers, they all know who the top dancers are and who they dance for), supposedly drawing names out of a hat for AD's (Then not actually reading out loud the names on the card drawn, so could have been blank/changed later for all we know) and other minor changes that do nothing.

But what is going to be done about the ones named? The ones we know about are big names, many associated with Australian schools. Yet nothing is done, they still attended worlds and walked around as if nothing was wrong. They are still hosting feiseanna expecting us to give them even more money, and still CLRG does nothing.

I don't have a solution, they obviously will not take away the GLRG membership of these people, and who else is involved? We know the names of a few, but would be stupid to assume that it is only them asking for favours in return for favours, others will be involved, maybe even our own teachers, they all know each other, see each other at Worlds etc, meet in the bar, discuss their dancers. There's quite obviously no way to stop them no matter what is done for appearances sake.

The only way is for parents to stop funding it. If they can't milk every last dollar from us with promises of World Championship placings, they will have to stop and take notice. But as long as we Aussies (and all dancers worldwide) continue to pour money into their coffers, they will not stop their business as usual attitude.
