The thing that really annoys me about people is that many of them are ignorant and choose to continue to be that way. Also, they don't think of the consequences that could come about from their actions. Even scientists. They mess around with genetics & basically toy with nature. Who knows what could happen! They act as if they know completely of what they are doing. They step up to play God with nature, almost without fear of what could become as a result . . . later, they may have to pay. It's very scary, especially when our lives are in the hands of these geneticists and other scientists. It reminds me of the movie, Jurassic Park, where the Mathematician says: "God help us. We're in the hands of engineers." (Sorry, I just had to quote from that movie.)

Hate to be the 'gloom & doom' prophet, but if you think about it, we're alreading beginning to reap the consequences of these scientists' actions. Who knows what they are doing to our nation's (and the world's) food supply . . . By slowly eliminating certain variations in plants, the gene pool is becoming ever more narrow, until certain plants that we eat or use for medicinal purposes may become extinct. Think of the seedless watermelon. What if, one day, all watermelons are seedless? How will we plant & grow more of them? We'd need seeds to do that!!! As you can see . . . I don't feel particularly comfortable about genetic engineering.
