Angie looked with not a little alarm at Jeff's confused face, and tried to keep her own countenance mild as she spoke into Alexis' mind.
::Are you crazy?:: she hissed. ::All of our planning and secrecy, and you just about give it away at the drop of a leaf! Look, if you tell him anything now, he'll probably run off and get killed, or worse! If you can just keep your mouth shut till we're over the mountains, maybe he'll be scared enough to stick with us. But till then, you're all that's keeping him going! If you go crazy on him, it's all over, girl.::
Jeff looked as though Alexis had struck him. "Tell me...everything? Tell me what? Alexis?" He hurried up the path after her, but Angie casually stepped in his way.
"Hold it, Fuzzy, now's not a good time. It's just the mood swings, y'see, she'll be better in just a little---"
The boy shoved her aside as though she didn't weigh a thing, and scrambled up through the rocks, calling for Alexis.
The red-haired girl stared after him for a moment, sitting up in a pile of small rocks. Her dark eyes burned, and her lip curled in a defiant snarl. ::I hate you,:: she thought to him, knowing perfectly well that he couldn't hear but nonetheless putting a great deal of strength behind the words. ::I hate you, you damn spoiled brat. I....::
Her thoughts trailed off and she sat quite still for a moment. Since she had lived for so long in isolation, Angelina was not able to identify the emotion lonliness, but nevertheless felt a very unpleasant sensation in the pit of her stomach as she looked with hooded, sullen eyes after Jeff and Alexis.

Gwenneveire lifted her head, green-gold eyes concerned. ::Monet, I do not like this,:: she said quietly. ::I fear that your sweet young girl suffers without your presence...her strength of will diminishes. Oh, Monet, what if she discloses our secret? My boy! It will drive him away!::
Panic flashed through her eyes as she put an anxious paw over Monet's, and in that instant her helplessness was plain. There was great strength in her, but there was no escaping the fact that she was slowly wasting away. Without the lir-bond, her mind and body would grow steadily weaker until she perished. She was a dying creature, whose fate hung from a thread.
::Please...speak to her, my friend.::
