You seem to be thinking on the same lines as me. I thought the Beta wouldn't fit but it seems it will, with certain limitations according to Martin's message.

If you decide to refurbish your YSB8; I refurbished my YSB8 earlier this year with new piston rings & big end bearing shells. The bearing shells were a rip off at 56 & the gaskets are silly money but the whole exercise was only about 170 & only took about a couple of days.

Interestingly, my first sail on a Trapper was on "Promise" when she was a demonstrator in Poole in 1977!
