Simon, I have a twinge of guilt if I have contributed to your inconvenient and expensive decision, rather than being "proud" about it; although if I have helped to raise awareness that holes in the hull need vigilance then that is always good. But I would have thought waiting for a Spring haulout and antifouling more appropriate, unless you are planning on a winter cruise.

I'm not sure that I would advocate out-and-out seacock renewal (although I have gradually done just that), rather regular inspection and maintenance such as greasing with hose and clips replacement as necessary.

In my view, the port cockpit drain seacock on my T500 is the worry; it is just so inaccessible. I admit to something of a tic about through-hull fittings, having had one yacht that almost sank on me many years ago because of one that failed.
